It's also the reason why I think many "big name" guys haven't been caught. People have been clamoring for a big name guy to get nailed all year and don't realize why these guys aren't getting caught.
IMO it's not a scandal to protect certain players by MLB like many suggest. It's that a big name player is using the expensive cutting edge steroids that a urine test can not detect. The lower level player can't afford those and is probably why many more lower level guys are getting caught.Comment

I thought that it was supposed to be apparent that he is off the stuff for good.Comment

Urine testing is a few years behind blood testing and the same steroid Raffy took was detected in Ben Johnson during the Olympics in 1988 (blood test). So it's safe to assume that a urine test could detect that steroid by 1995.Comment

Re: Barry Bonds to Bat Fourth on Monday
Personally, if I were a professional athlete and my body and well being was what supported my family, I'd know every little thing that I put into it or on it. Heck, I'm that way now and I work in a corporate environment.
If someone (even a close friend or trainer) said "Take this". My first question would be "What is it and why?". After I was told, I'd still look it up on the internet to make sure it was safe. In the end, it's all about personal responsibility. There's no one to blame, but one's self.Comment

Hell yeah I'd want Bonds on my team. I still can't believe back the Padres could've got him when they still had Sheff, McGriff, etc. Thanks a lot for f'ing it up whoever was the owner/GM at that time.Comment

That'd be one hell of team and I would've been a Padres fan sooner maybe. Don't forget Gwynn...Comment

Re: Barry Bonds to Bat Fourth on Monday
Anyways, enough of that. If Bonds was healthy to being the year, who knows how well this Giants team would be playing? IMO his presence alone would have an impact.
On a personal note, I feel kinda proud for the Padres nowadays that they pitch to Bonds, regardless of how bad he's owned them his whole career.Comment
