This will be a great series again. I would like to see the astros win it but i think the cardinals will win in 7.

How can I pick against the Stros? I'll take them in 7. This series has a chance to be a classic given the pitching matchups; Pettitte, Carpenter, Oswalt, Mulder, Clemens, Morris. Add to that last year's NLCS that went 7, the fact that this is the Cards last year in the current Busch Stadium, and also the fact that these two clubs know each other so well. This is a rivalry built on respect and not the bitter hatred of say the Yanks and Sawx, that's not to say that the Stros & Cards have a rivalry in the same league as NY/BOS or even these Cards and the Cubs, but it's a good one nonetheless.

          GO STROS!!!

Astros in 7. It's hard to bet against their pitching and confidence after the Atlanta series.

Cards in 5. The Astros bullpen has been worked ragged during the Braves series so they're going to need the starters to go deep in all the games. I just don't see that happening.

I don't see the Astro's offense doing enough this series, Cards in 6.

                    Re: Astros vs. Cardinals (NLCS)

Heres how each teams starters fared against each other this season:

                    HOU-
                    Andy Pettite- 0-1, 1.35, 11 K, 3 BB, 20 IP
                    Roger Clemens- 1-1, 2.63, 19 K, 9 BB, 21.2 IP
                    Roy Oswalt- 1-2, 5.21, 13 K, 2 BB, 19 IP
                    Brandon Backe- 0-1, 10.32, 5 K, 7 BB, 11 IP

STL- (Not sure who'd go games 3 and 4 so I'll list Morris, Marquis, and Suppan)
                    Chris Carpenter- 4-0, 1.85, 31 K, 5 BB, 39 IP
                    Mark Mulder- 1-1, 2.48, 16 K, 6 BB, 29 IP
                    Matt Morris- 1-1, 3.27, 7 K, 2 BB, 11 IP
                    Jason Marquis- 4-0, 3.22, 21 K, 6 BB, 36.1 IP
Jeff Suppan- DNP vs. HOU according to ESPN.com

Doesn't mean anything now but just figured I'd post their #'s since I had looked them up.

Hopin for a sweep but I think it goes 6 games minimum.

This series is so much more intriguing than the ALCS, whether its Chicago vs. NY or Chicago vs. LA.

Lol the exact opposite of last year.

Like last year, Cards in 7.

Cardinals in 6, I just don't see the Astros offense getting it done. There will probably be a lot of 3-run-or-less games in the first 3 games, but I predict the Cards will blow it open after Game 3.
