You do realize that when your offense is facing another team's #2, it's harder for them to produce runs than say...if they were facing a #4 or 5 starter? At the Back of the order Vasquez would get more run support, and thereby win more games. He's not going to win 35 games, but he doesn't need to now that the starter's that the D-Rays already have have come around somewhat. Every starter on that team, with the exception of maybe Dewon Brazelton, has the ability to win 10 or more games next year, with guys like Kazmir and Vasquez (if a trade like that happened) possibly winning 15 or more.

By the time May rolls around... its not matched up #1 with #1 and #2 with #2 anymore due to off days for the teams... injuries... skipped starts... etc. so it would hardly make a difference.

        oic thanks

I'd like to take a flyer on him if his salary would as is, but if Arz is pocketing the cash that NY sent them for his salary (which I believe they can) then I would pass.

I'm sure Mazzone would have a fun time cleaning him up and making him a great pitcher again. Time is pretty much up on him as a project, he's almost thirty, so it'll be hard to sell him on his potential to anyone who wants to take him.
