    Re: Delgado to Mets...

This is the stupidest trade I've seen in a long time. The Mets are stupid for trading away their pretty much proven youth for an old fart that will flail in NY, and for giving up not only that but an extra 7 million just to make another fickin mistake. You would have thought that they had learned by now from all the mistakes they've made with players over 30 in the past, but apparently they JUST DON'T GET IT. They are trading away their future for a bleak and crappy present, AND THEY ARE PAYING TO DO IT!!

    THE METS

    ARE THE MOST

    INCREDIBLY STUPID

    IDIOTIC MORONIC

    HALF-WITTED

    SENSELESS

    UNINTELLIGENT

    FOOLISH, DAFT

    HAIR-BRAINED TEAM

    IN THE MAJOR LEAGUES

    for making this trade.

    My rant is now over.

        Re: Delgado to Mets...

The thing is Delgado's contract is heavily backloaded. Chuck Swirsky was talking about that on his show yesterday. Basically when the Mets will want to dump Carlos they will have a very hard time doing it because of all the backloaded money.

If Delgado falls apart in NYC then you're going to have a very bad contract on the books. Then again the Mets are used to those kinda things "cough" Mo Vaughn "cough"

uhm.. "proven" youth? Sure Jacobs did a nice job in his limited time here in NY.. but you have to be careful...Remember Kevin Maas? the rookie 1b that the Yanks brought up a few years back? he hit hr's in a short span & everyone was saying that he was the future.. well guess what? if that future is playing now in "Old Timer's games, then he succeeded......Petit? proven? unless i saw something, i dont recall him in a major league game at all... besides the fact, the MARLINS are the ones that would be GIVING the Mets the $7 mil.. Kazmir for Zambrano? yes that was the dumbest deal ever.. but would you also say the Mike Piazza for Preston Wilson/AJ Burnett deal was bad? nope... Now the Cameron for Nady deal was a bit odd for me, but having another big bopper in the lineup will help big time...

Delgado is just another piece of the puzzle to the Mets organization as " The Most Overpaid Team" that can't win a Championship. They think they have all the money in the world and will try and do what the Yankees can do, but fail. Now they have offered Wagner 3 yrs/ $30M. They will overpay for anyone on the market.

like Dan Patrick was talking about yesterday, The Marlins do it right, about every 5 years they put out a team that has a shot to win the title and then they sell off and try again. They've won 2 world series in the last 10 years! The Red Sox and White Sox have won that many in 80+! I think the Marlins have the right model and its unfair for their fans who don't support them at all to complain about how they run their succesful franchise.

I don't remember anyone saying that the Marlins overpaid for Delgado. I don't remember Delgado being the reason the Marlins underachieved. If your going to say that it was a bad deal, at least have a sound arguement, rather than hating just for the sake of it. I don't understand how making one trade makes them free spenders. They got money back in the deal to help ease the backloaded salary. Why do you guys think that they traded Cameron for Nady? Perhaps, To save a lil doe for a bigger, better bat. I do not consider Delgado Overpaid...his numbers earn his salary. Who on the Mets is overpaid. Beltran...maybe. Glavine, Yes. Benson, Yes. Other than that, whom? Reyes and Wright make next to nothing. Floyd is not overpaid IMO. Pedro is def. not overpaid.

WTF? Why is everyone trashing Carlos? Last I checked, he does have an arthritic knee like Mo Vaughn did. IIRC didn't he post a .908 OPS last season? Why is it that suddenly because he's a Met this will turn out to be like the Mo Vaughn signing. Carlos is in shape and is ready to play and be productive. Mo had a horrible knee and to add insult to injury, he had to carry around 290 pounds of fat on that knee which made it worse.

Well my first post wished Carlos luck. I think he'll give 2 good seasons depending on how he gets along with the NY media and fans. This deal has just as much chance of blowing up in the Mets' face as much as it could help them.

I like Carlos and I still wish he was in a Jays uniform.

Arguably the best Jay ever. At least in the top 5 for sure.

As a Marlin fan I would accept trade-backs in a heartbeat. I dont know why you guys are complaining about Delgado. Money is never an obstacle for you like it is for some teams, and he finished 6th in MVP voting, higher than any Met last year.

I would take proven All-Stars over prospects that dont pan out well over half the time anyday. I bet neither of these guys would be considered a good player in two years.

I was hoping this day would come. The day people would criticize The Amazins for spending big bucks. Finally Freddy Skill Sets has opened his checkbook. As a loyal, orange and blue- blooded Met fan. I love this trade. Mike Jacobs might be good or he might be Sam Horn or Kevin Maas. Yusmeiro Petit is a good prospect but unproven above Binghamton. I was hoping Luis Castillo or Paul Lo Duca would join Delgado on the drive up from Miami Gardens but anything is still possible. With a new Stadium set to open in 2009 and SportsNet NY going on the air this spring, the Mets finally look poised to steal the backpages from the Evil Empire.

Delgado just appeared in local radio down here in Puerto Rico.(Salsoul 98 FM) And he was really excited about going to the Mets.

He mentioned he talked to Beltran a couple of mins before and Beltran was excited too.

                            Good to know.

                            Lets go METS!!

How can you say that.Jacobs could be a on month wonder and Petit has proven nothing on a major leauge stage. He was called up to Triple AAA and did not pitch well. Delgado has huge numbers plus they gave the Mets 7 Million Dollars.
