    Who? Todd Jones?

Peter Gammons just said on SC that he's the one the Braves are after now.

Good. Todd is a local guy that has wanted to play for Atlanta for quite some time. He should flourish in that atmosphere.

I wouldn't be too high on Todd Jones if I were you. He had an outstanding year last year, but two years ago he was horrible. Also he has only had an ERA of under 3 twice during his 12 year carreer which isn't very good for a potential closer. It's not uncommon for a reliever to have a really good, and then flop the next. I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden Jones just "got it" and now, 12 years into his carreer, is going to become a dominant closer.

Todd Jones has 226 career Saves so it's not like he's not used to being a Closer. And i would take Jones closing out games over Farnsworth anytime.
If Trever Hoffman goes back to San Diego (which he might) than the Indians will likely re-sign Bob Wickman and if you don't want Jones you probably don't want Jose Mesa, and that pretty much covers the market for Closers. It's not like the Braves are passing on Lee Smith or Dennis Eckersley in favor of Jones.

Supposedly his (Jones) first choice is Atlanta, but he wants a multi-year deal and the Braves are just offering one year...

I'm not saying Jones is horrible, i mean he's been a decent closer at times during his carreer, but he is a journeyman and is not a dominant closer. He probably is the best option that the braves have at this point, but he is by no means dominant. And don't forget that although Jones has 226 carreer saves he also has 60 blown saves. I'm just saying this because a previous poster suggested that losing Furcal was actually good because it would free up money for a dominant closer, and all I'm trying to get across is that there are none on the market now.

The braves might not even look for a closer on the free agent market. They might go after one via trade which is their best option now that the free agent market is slim when it comes to closers. I wouldn't be suprised if the braves look into acquiring Julio Lugo and Dany Baez from the devil rays.
