I'm not sure. It all kind of blended together last year into one big problem in my eyes. Although this quote from the PG makes it sound like Bradley and Tracy didn't have any big problems.

On the other hand, Bradley also has created negative vibes at every turn in his six-year career, including brushes with the law and a much-publicized spat with Dodgers second baseman Jeff Kent last summer in which he accused Kent of being a racist.

Even so, Tracy has said on more than one occasion since his Oct. 11 hiring by the Pirates he had no issues with Bradley and would welcome an opportunity to manage him again. Likewise, Bradley consistently has held Tracy in high esteem, often referring to him as "my guy."

EDIT: Joeboo this is downright scary

On the other hand, people who I thought I'd never have to see in uniform again Josh Fogg and Ty Wigginton might be coming back. DL said that he's going tender offers to all of the eligible Pirates. I think we passed the time to cut bait with some of these guys.
I agree about Bradley. I'd take him and drop him in RF.

This is something that I read today that I didn't like. DL stated that he will tender contracts to all who are arbitration eligible - Fogg, Wiggy, Wells, Vogelsong, C. Wilson, Gerut and Mackowiak. Hopefully they send a few of those packing afterwards.

He also stated he won't offer anything to Mesa, Ward, Meadows or Rick White.

One of us needs to get off this wavelength. Either that or get some more Pittsburgh fans with different opinions.

Yeah really. It's got to be the avatars.

I've checked at a few other baseball boards and actually see a lot of Pirate fans that are upset about this deal. Too much money for a non-power hitting 1B. Gave up too much. Casey's overpaid etc... Sometimes I wonder if some Pirates fans will ever be pleased!

I think that some were expecting too much from the team. Something like a blockbuster deal where we get an all-star for the Kip Wells of the world. I appriciate that the team actually did SOMEthing. As of this morning I was fully expecting to have J.T Snow as our first basemen come opening day. I'm pleasantly surprised that they added someone who brings something positive to the team, and actually followed through to add payroll.

Exactly. Except I was expecting even less! I didn't think DL would even make a move and we'd end up with Wiggy at 1B.

That's one thing about Pirate fans. Some of these fans grossly overestimate some of the talent on the team. They throw around stuff like "Let's trade Kip Wells, Craig Wilson, Mark Redman and Ty Wiggington for Miguel Tejada. We unload some money, free up some roster space, give them 4 guys for 1 AND improve our lineup!".

When I read that, I just shake my head.

I think that's true for fans of every team in every sport. I think it's the "Sh*t for Stars" syndrome. People think throwing more people into a trade makes it better. You see its fair because they get FOUR players, but of course they fail to understand the players are cast-offs, rejects and losers.

Prior to last season some Pirate boards saw some this in full force for Oliver Perez. Somehow it helps both teams that the Yankees get Perez and the Pirates get Bubba Crosby, Tanyon Sturtz AND John Flaherty.

Dave Williams is actually a decent LH starter. He was expendable because the Pirates have 3-4 guys exactly like him, but better (Duke, Maholm, Burnett, Gorzellanny and Redman).

At least this means Dunn won't move for you guys and Larue can possibly be re-signed since this frees up some $$$.
Yeah, Williams seemed to be decent last year to me, just sounds like there were offers out there to get more for Casey than him. Williams is another pitcher like the rest the Reds have. Rumors are still flying about Austin Kearns going to the Cubs for Ricky Nolasco so if this trade was done because 5 guys (Griffey, Dunn, Casey, Kearns, and Pena) were trying to fill 4 spots, what sense does it make to trade Kearns now? Be interesting to see what Dan-O does with the rest of his time at the meetings.

Well with Casey out of the picture, that pretty much indicates that Adam Dunn will move to 1st and Willy Mo Pena and Kearns will man the Corners with Griffey in CF...wow is that a lot of power if they stay healthy.

Lots of power but zero contact hitters with Casey gone. If you want to cool off next summer come on down to Great American Ballpark. Great breezes everywhere with all the whiffs!

You two should get a room.

I do like the trade. I think we got the better end of the deal with Casey. But the Reds are hard up for starting pitching.

The Trib says that the Reds are also picking up about 2 million on Caseys contract in the deal.

                            Sure sounds good to me.

Casey might provide more power with that short RF porch at PNC Park. I've always liked him so I hope he does well.

EDIT - Casey has always hit well at PNC. He has a lifetime .976 OPS here.
good luck on those power numbers....GABP....Right field is short also, and he did not do jack....i am glad the 8 million is gone now maybe when new owners come in they will get some pitching, kearns is next to go..***mor has it? dunn will our first baseman?.....any takers on junior?...wouldbe nice.... its time for an overhaul...top to bottom, build around dunn, and lopez....everyone else can be traded....pitching ..pitching..and more pitching,is what cincinnati needs...

His career numbers at PNC in 27 games are 5 HR's, .355 BA and I can't recall the RBI's. Translate that to 81 games and you get 15 HR's (fuzzy logic, I know). He's not going to all of a sudden hit 30+, but I think Casey will hit 20-25 with the Pirates next year. I'm not as concerned with the HR's though as much as I want to see a guy who can drive the ball into the gaps. Casey can. He also carries a .976 OPS at PNC which is pretty impressive.

Reds are also paying 2 million in salary from what I read. Can't beat that. Especially for Dave Williams. Dave's not bad, but I'll take an everyday hitter like Casey over a #4 or #5 pitcher like Dave. Especially when we've got younger guys who are better waiting in the wings.
