Jaque Jones - The answer to all of the Cub's trouble..

Wow, its been like what 3 months already and all Hendry could do is Pierre and possibly Jaque Jones? Pathetic.

I'm sorry, but if you have a "future all-star" in the minors (Pie) I would bring him up instead of trying to trade for guys you know wont resign with the club the following year.

Cause honestly, who here thinks that Pierre would resign with the Cubs? Granted the Cubs did get a good deal on Pierre since he is on his contract year, and like most professional athletes, would most likely have a career year in 2006 so he can get his big contract.

But Murton, Pierre, and (ahem) Patterson in the outfield???

I'd rather take the outfield from A League of their Own.

I think its safe to say that Pierre will re sign. Not even this organization is that pathatic to not get it done. As far as your outfield comparison, if the Cubs get a decent stick in right its not too different than the outfield that won the world title. Pods is similar to Pierre. If given a full year Murton could replicate the stats of Rowand who was vastly overrated by Sox fans. The problem is in right. Dye is a solid player and someone that the Cubs should have signed last year. We need a stick like that. Anyways they are running out of options .

Believe me, he is the perfect fit for Wrigley field. The problem is that he is to stubborn to change his hitting approach. He could be the next Ryno, but he wants to be he next Sammy. Oh well, take care bro!

Yes Rowand was vastly overrated... as a hitter. But as a fielder, he was top notch nonetheless. He was the heart of our outfield, and any comparison to a scrub like Murton, who should still be playing AAA ball is moronic (no offense) He has potential, but the fact that he played sparingly, 50+ games, wont tell you that he's similar to Rowand. He might have a good avg, but put that average on a span of 182 games, and lets see if it stays above .300.

Face it, the Cubs rely on their "amazing farm team" that has been buzzing since Kerry Wood first came out back in the late 90s. And who have we seen progress from their farm team?

          Kerry Wood? Nope.
          Corey Patterson? Nope
          Felix Pie? Who?
Mark Prior? Soon to be the next Kerry Wood with injury problems.

They dont want to give up their prize farm team, simply because they are very optimisitic about their future. Hey Cubs, the future is now.

Trade away Wood, Patterson, and Murton and actually get a proven quality everyday starter. Stop thinking that these are the players that will finally get you to the World Series one day. Cause lets face it, they already let that player go (Willis) in return for 2 players that arent even on the team anymore for the past 2 years.

I say trade those 3 names mentioned above for Miguel Cabrera. It may put a hole in our RF still, but we have a great contact hitter in Cabrera and he can play multiple positions. All you need is a decent fielding, hard throwing RF.

And I really dont think Pierre will re-sign. Tribune and Co. already have shelled out big money for Lee and Ramirez and I doubt they'll be able to shell out the same amount of money the Yanks will offer him next year (unless of course they get Damon). It looks like the Yanks will keep Crosby at CF and look upon next year for a big name FA CF. (Pierre)

Face it, Cubs are doomed. Especially if they have that toothpick sucking idiot of a coach, Dusty Baker. Dusty you need to get the hell out of Chicago cause you put shame on this city.

Oh btw, I'm anxious to see if Dusty runs Pierre. Cuase as we all know, he has the tendency to fall asleep when there is a runner on base. Lee has the potential to steal 15+ bases, what happened? Look at the stats and you might see that he stole 15 bases already. I think I've watched all 15 of those steals last year and I can safely say that half were pass-balls and the other half were unneccessary steals (meaning they were already losing badly, or winning, so no point in stealing and riskin injury)

As a Sox fan, yes a Sox fan, I still root for the Cubs because they are still a part of a city I love. But this is what disgusts me about this ballclub. Almost to the point that we should just move them to Indiana. Please Tribune Co. You've cost this city enough grief, sell this team to somebody else! I beg of you.

How is he the perfect fit for Wrigley Field? Because he doesnt care how much he gets booed? Cmon man, he had one good year prior to an injury, and now has become a bum that is stubborn. You cant think that one good year makes him the next Ryno. (Ryno was a great fielder, Patterson has dropped routine fly-balls in the outfield) Maybe another good year might make him the next Dawson then huh?

To quote Ryan Dempster from the Cubs-Cards game this year when they had him mic-ed up....

(Doing his best Harry Carry impression)

"Ryne Sandberg played in over 7,000 games. Never made a throwing error. The coaches would say "Hey Ryne, hit him in the chest." And he would. It was amazing."

Whoa whoa! I never said he was the next Ryno. I said he could be. How could you have thought I said that after all of the Corey bashing by myself. With his speed he already has an advantage in the gap friendly park. If he hit the ball to all fields and down the line like Ryno did he could be great. The comparison stems from the fact that he is smallish in nature and should be this type of player. Too bad the steroid era has ruined the kid's head and he thinks he is Corky. Cmon Shug read first.

Murton is not a scrub. He is the best pure hitter in their system and can hit. I like Rowand but his offensive #'s are average. Defensively, yes he was very good. You act like he never made an error ever, which is wrong. Murton should be able to equal or surpass those numbers if given a chance.Pierre might be signed before spring training so you might eat your words. The money isnt an issue, they have more than NYY. You have been here long enough to know how I feel about the manager and the organization so I cant disagree with your other comments.

You said in your exact words:

How could he become the next Ryno? He cant hit, he cant field, all he has is better than average speed. Maybe next time you should elaborate more on your comparison, then just stating it. So my next question is: What do you see in Corey Patterson that somewhat resembles Ryno?

I also hate nowadays that everytime a player doesnt become the player everyone thought he'd be, they automatically think "Steroids". You guys ruin the game, simply becuase you accuse everybody of using steroids. And I'm not saying Corey didnt use steroids, what I'm saying is that until we get proof that he did, you can use that as a reason for your statement.

Murton might have been the best pure hitter, but that was in the minors. This is professional ball. I really think you should give him a full year, before you praise this kid. Also do you remember hitters that were praised by the Cubs Org? Hee-Sop Choi, that small white kid Bobby something, and dont forget Patterson! Theres more but I just dont remember them all because they had 1 season then they got waived or traded away.

I never said Rowand never made any errors, Poster, MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ FIRST. What I did say was that he was the heart of our outfield. He was the one making daring catches, running into walls and making the catch. He gave the heart to our team. Murton plays LF. If you know anything about baseball, LF is the weakest and easiest position to play in the outfield. Murton doesnt have an arm, and he definately hasnt faced a Chicago Wind that blows the ball 50 mph every way possible. Until he is comfortable catching those types of balls, day in and day out, he is still a scrub to me.

As for Pierre, I laughed when I read this from you:

                  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yes they have more money, but its whether or not they're willing to spend it. Cmon, the Cubs could probably afford Arod, Manny, and Beltran all on the same team, but they wont. They're too cheap. They wont spend money because they havent been spending their money the past few decades. Cmon, you being a Cubs fan should know this by now.

And until I see a link referring to Pierre being signed before Spring Training, I wont believe you.

I dont have time for pissing matches. If you read the next part I said he could be if he didnt want to be Sammy, which obviously has screwed him up. He has all of the talent to be a great player, just doesnt have the head.

Again after all of the times you have read me ripping on the Cubs organization you honestly think I dont know they are cheap? As far as roids. Think a bit. Of course he isnt on them, but the roid era has made these young guys think they need to be something they are not. Anyways you know what I mean, but you keep trying to start something by taking all of my points of of context. Later

Hey I'm not trying to start any wars here. I'm trying to have a civil arguement. What you stated was a misunderstanding by myself. I do think I have valid points in my arguement about the Cubs and if you dont agree with them, thats fine. I understand where your coming from though when you say kids these days want to hit homerruns instead of actually getting on base. I didnt read anything from you about the Cubs Org. I actually try to stay away from threads that include anything about the Cubs, cause they stress me out too much. If you got offended, then I apologize. But you keep making these players out to be something they might never be. Your more of the optimisitic Cubs Fan. I'm more of the pessimistic baseball fan.

Lets not divide Chicago because of the stupid Tribune Co. Lets all get together and cheer on the Bears to the Superbowl....(I hope and wish)

Fair enough. I agree with alot of what you said about the Trib, they are scum. I am not offended at all, just dont want to argue about it. I am far from the optimistic Cubs fan. I love baseball and thats my team. That being said I am sickened by the Trib and the way they run their team. Maybe you are right, alot of these prospects have been trash and some of the unknowns seem to be ok like Murton, Cedeno, etc. Anyways yes lets cheer the Bears on and argue during the summer months. See you in the Bears thread on Monday morning.
