Marlins looking to trade for Joey Gathright

Marlins entire starting lineup is gonna be prospects next year, wow. He's got a lot of potential though and could turn out to be a better player than Pierre.

Doesn't really matter all they will do is let him play and if he turns out to be good they will just fire sale him too. This franchise is a disgrace the way it is run. Buy a good team hope it wins, if not blow it up to the point where nobody even wants to watch and then raise ticket prices.

Or maybe I am just a disgruntled Indians fan.

He's got lots of talent, but the way they run their team is just a joke. If this continues then Gathright probably won't be a Marlin in 4 or 5 years.

See I don't know why everyone complains... if my ownership told me every 5 years I would have a team go for a World Series I would be estatic... So what if you have to go through 4 years of losing, you know many titles the Indians have in the last 50 years? 0.... The Marlins the last 10.... 2.

Yeah but imagine how many WS Titles they would have if they kept all their talent intact.

Potential? No. The guy is 28. He is really, really fast, but he can't hit.

Exactly! Seeing the Sox finally win a World Series this year makes me understand how what the Marlins are doing is ok. I'd rather have my team win a World Series every 5 years and suck all the in between years than go 50...or 87 years without a title.

Gathwright = older version of Jose Reyes

If the Marlins are really prepared to offer Scott Olsen for Gathright, they're stupid.

I've reading about how so many teams love his speed and how they could use him at the top of the order. I wonder if those teams have looked at his career OBP. He refuses to take a walk.

He's not a very good fielder, either. I watched him play against Pawtucket when he was in Durham and he let 2 balls bounce over his head in CF, in the same game.

24 with great speed and potential >>>>>>>> 28 with the aforementioned things.

Gathright has the chance, if he can sure up his D and become more patient at the plate, to be a great leadofff hitter/CF.

He winds up being pretty good in MVP Baseball 2005, that has to count for something doesn't it?
