Re: Projected Standings for next season
Originally posted by soxboy7How does anyone pick the Twins? I can kind of see someone stretching and picking the tribe...but the Twins? Did I miss something? Have they improved themselves anywhere near as much as the Sox have? People picked them last year as well and I posted this same type of message. If you pick the Twins to win the central, you don't know baseball. Simple as that.
Why not the Twins?? We have solid pitching staff..Comment

Re: Projected Standings for next season
Holy crap! I was going to play Devil's Advocate on you to criticize the number of wins vs losses (2430 games in a regular 30-team 162-game season), but it looks like you already did the math yourself. Do I sense a bit of sarcasm concerning the Twins' improvement? I mean, seriously now, who doubts that Tony Batista is the savior the Twins have been looking for?Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Projected Standings for next season
I think it's funny everyone is picking the Rangers to be 3rd (or even 4th) in their division. Someone had them at 70-92...did you look at their record last year? They were 79-83. They are definitely a better team this year...there's no way they'll lose 9 more games than they did last year (unless they have serious injuries).
I'm originally from Chicago and a lifelong Cubs fan but since moving to Texas I have realized what a great club the Rangers are. Some interesting facts from last year:
- 3rd most in runs (behind BOS & NYY)
- 1st in HRs (by more than 30!)
- 1st in TB
- 1st in SLG
- 3rd in H (behind BOS & NYY)
- 3rd in RBI (behind BOS & NYY)
Now some of their other stats aren't great...SO, BB, AVG...but they weren't at the bottom for any of those. This year they lose Soriano, replace him with Kinsler who should be a solid second baseman, solidify their pitching and everyone counts them out? As you can see from my signature I think they'll win their division this year.Last edited by jmw1137; 04-02-2006, 03:11 PM.Comment

Why do people get so sensitive about them? I see people listing the Padres at third or fourth and saying the won't have a winning record when they've improved themselves this year, but I'm not lashing back at them.
There have been teams that have leapt close to being good, only to regress the following season. Just because they make a jump does not mean they'll automatically be decent the following season, as witnessed with teams such as the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals, the Seattle Mariners, the San Diego Padres, etc.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 04-02-2006, 03:35 PM.Comment
