I still expect the Red Sox to trade David Wells to the Padres for David Roberts. Wells wants to finish on the west coast, the Sox need a CF and a leadoff hitter and now with Adrian Gonzalez to play 1B the Padres could just leave Klesko in LF and have Terrmel Sledge as the 4th OF, the Pads don't even need Roberts.

I would much rather have Roberts, a player who has come up big for the Sox in the past play CF than a unproven player like Joey Gathright.

I agree completely but it seems like the Red Sox aren't willing to trade Wells for less than equal value, which I think Roberts is considered. With an excess of pitching, you'd think they'd be more willing to trade him in order to fill a need, but I can understand their reluctance to do so. A rotation with Wells as the 3rd or 4th starter is doing pretty well.

Ah, the Wells situation. The Red Sox have some leverage since the Dodgers are one of the suitors. However, they're are asking for prospects from the Dodgers in which the Dodgers would least like to part with. If the Red Sox think we'd be willing to trade another high chip player like Loretta for a guy who will probably pitch his last season, then they're wrong.

Anyways, for the record rsox, Klesko will never be in LF again for the rest of his Padres career. He's more susceptible to injury and he's just a butcher out there. It's much better stated that Klesko is fighting for his job at first base since the Padres haven't ruled out the possibility of giving the job to Adrian Gonzalez. As for LF, if the Padres didn't need a leadoff hitter badly, then Ben Johnson would be the favorite for that position with Termell Sledge as the 4th outfielder. As long as Dave Roberts is on the roster, he'll be in LF playing.

Obviously the Braves haven't addressed their biggest need which is their bullpen and closers role. Chris Reitsma might be their closer in 2006 which isn't a bad thing when you look at how he did in that role last season when he was healthy. However the Braves bullpen is still far from looking solid even after aquiring Lance Cormier and Oscar Villarreal. Im suprised John Schuerholz hasn't done too much to address this so far this offseason but then again you can't ever count him out as he always seems to come up with a big trade or signing when we are least expecting it.
