Jim Hendry has offically won the worst Gm of the 05-06 offseason award. He gave up too much to get Pierre, he failed to get Furcal, and got nothing back in return for Patterson. Good job Jim! and thanks for us another Cubs fan a 70- 92 ballclub.
With playing time he will it 30 HR's? The most HR's he has hit is 24 in 157 games and since that season he has shown now glipmese of reaching that power. .265 21 HR'S 78rbiS this year, tops.

Considering the way he has played, I'm surprized they received 2 players for him. They could have traded him for spoiled milk and it would have been a good deal.

So, people have finally learned that CoPat completely blows. And this took how long?

The O's should see if he can pitch better than he can hit.

One bad season and now Corey completely sucks? Give me a break. I can name thousands of players who had one terrible season and bounced back with solid seasons later in their careers. He can steal a ton of bases, hit alot of homeruns, turn doubles into triples, play solid in the outfield, and he's only 23!!!! Alot of the best prospects in the minors are only 22 or 23! I think we got a steal even though the prospects we gave up are pretty talented.

My prediction if CPAT plays everyday: .265 28 HR's 82 RBI's 90 Runs, 30 Steals, and solid fielding. I'll take it for mediocre prospects. Only people hating those who don't realize that in baseball one bad season for a talented player means nothing.

First of all, C. Patterson was 25 last year, so, he'll be 26 this year.

                This is all careerwise stats.

He has a 5 to 1 K to BB ratio.

SB's- Avg's 17 per year.(you need to get on base to steal bases)

                OBP-. 293 . .280 was very close.

                SLG- .414.

                OPS-. 707.

The past usuallly predicts the future.

No, C-Pat has always pretty much been bad.

                  .252 career average averaging 19HR's and 64 RBI's a year

I count he has had 3 bad seasons:
                  2002: .253 14hr's 54 RBI's (153 games)
                  2004: .266 24hr's 72 rbi's (157 games)
                  2005: .215 13hr's 34rbi's (126 games)
The one "good" season he had was in 2003 when he played in a whopping 83 games.

Only someone who knows nothing about baseball would make the assertion that 1. Patterson is 23 2. That by somehow playing "everyday", something he has done in 2 of his 3 worst seasons, would allow him to improve.

The bottom line is as of now C-Pat does suck and has been nothing but a bust. He has played in 4 seasons of which he has played at least half the season and has had 3 bad years.

I thought he was 26.. oh well.

Up to this point, he has been a bust. Can't believe this kid was a top 3 pick.. just goes to show how much of a crapshoot the MLB draft is.

If you get sent to the minors when you are competing against guys like Jeremy Burnitz and Jose Macias for a job in the outfield you are not a very good player. Goodbye and Good riddence Corey Patterson.

You didn't even bother to look up his age, let alone his numbers. Just watch this guy hit, he has some of the worst at-bats I've seen of any professional ball player. He is unlikely to be anything other than mediocre at best for Baltimore.

                          He batted .215

Name someone, anyone. Who batted .215 in their 4th year as a pro and turned it into a good career. More strikeouts than hits for someone who hit a whopping 13 HRs.

Well, he did drive in a run about once a week.

It's not that he had a bad year, it's that he had a TERRIBLE year, and a terrible career so far too.

Probably said the same thing about Corky. Believe me this organization gets blame for ruining this kid, but CP also gets blame. This dude refused to go to winter ball. I would have released him on the spot if I was in charge there. One time he went a couple of years ago and just left mid way through. What a professional.

He is an arrogant spolied brat who thinks his **** doesnt stink. Any bum in the minors could hit 25 HR's playing in Wrigley for 81 if all he did was swing for the fences. Maybe this change will get it though his head. I doubt it though. His dreams of batting 3rd are over though as he will be a bottom of the order hitter.

Damn my post in this thread was pretty crappy lol. I even got his age wrong! Remind me to never post RIGHT after work .....but my prediction is looking pretty solid right about now .

Anyway.....looks like a change of scenery really helped him out and amazingly he's probably been the 2nd best player on the team this year. His plate discipline is still pretty bad but he really cut down on his strikeouts this year.

I mainly bumped this thread because I didn't see a reason to make a new one.

I did notice that he came alive this season, but there is still plenty of baseball left to be played. I'm glad to see the change of scenery has done him some good, I've always liked the guy.
