This doesnt bother me. If the manager thinks this is best for the team and will help them finish with under 100 losses, then Im all for it.

      I like the move.

I think more teams should do things like this. Both my HS and college coach would not allow us to wear black socks, headbands or wristbands. Nor could we wear ankle socks that didn't show above our kicks.

I'm not opposed to any ideas like this.

That is different. This is facial hair.

This weenie is just attemping to act like the Yankees do, which is ******** to begin with. The only thing that matters is winning ballgames. Having or not having facial hair does not correlate with this goal. (I imagine if one did a study comparing facial hair's of hitters and pitcher with their VORP, that one would find there is no correlation).
Ergo, the rule is idiotic, and reeks of a puny little man trying to exert some control, because he's scared nobody will respect him.

In my opinion, I think it's a good move. It can establish some order in a franchise that hasn't really had much this past off-season.

It'll be interesting to see how it all works out.

Actually, half way thru the season he should make them all grow beards.

Just to remind them he is top dog.

Ah another one of those old Yankee rules. Didn't Mazilli try something like this in Baltimore?

Could you please not mention that name? Bad memories, thanks.

I don't see a problem with it, either way. Different teams have different standards. It just like the business world. Some companies allow you to wear whatever you want, some are business-attire only. That's just the way it is. If given the choice, everyone would like to dress or groom themselves the way they want, but that's not an option at most jobs.

Willie Randolph does this crap too.

I want players to have some personality and not be automatons. Look at Giambi- the guy used to ooze personality in Oakland and now he's a clean cut part of the Yankee empire.

That doesn't change the fact that it's still a game. Having facial hair doesn't make someone look any less professional when their profession is to throw and hit a ball.

well its a start to being the Yankees

Now if he could only find ball players
