Chase Utley, best second baseman in the game?

His numbers are very good. His aggresiveness and intelligent play puts him right up there. Question is, what does the rest of the baseball world think?

I'd put him up there...maybe Kent or Giles are better. I think Kent is still the best 2B in the game, with Utley #2 (for now).

EDIT: Forgot Brian Roberts...I'd put him at #3, ahead of Giles.

a joke is taking Orlando Hudson over a guy like Roberts who is great defensively and one of, if not the best hitting second basemen in the game IMO.

You can't compare Odogg's D to anyone's in the league. He's the best defensive 2nd baseman since Robbie Alomar. The amount of runs he saves with his D cannot be measured by stats.

O-Dogg is great defensively but his offense leaves a lot to be desired.

I'd say Brian Roberts is 1A with Jeff Kent.

Aren't we all just a little too quick to hop on the Brian Roberts bandwagon? Sure, he was having a breakout year offensively last year, but let's not be so quick to judge him as a sure-fire producer just let. His offensive numbers prior to '05 were quite mediocre.

Soriano, Giles, Kent. Utley and Roberts both put up big numbers again for a full season this year and your there.

It was also his third full year in the pro's... the year when most hitters make the big jump to big league pitching... that or 500 at-bats... and Roberts hit it this year.
