    Remember Darren Daulton?

    Well, he's now apparently crazy.

Earth, Daulton believes, is entering a quadrant of space in which the "vibrational energy" will increase dramatically. "The Mayan calendar stops at Dec. 21, 2012 -- the date the Mayans believed the world would end," he says. "On that day, at 11:11 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time, those who are ready to ascend will vanish from this plane of existence, like the crew of the Enterprise in Star Trek."

Daulton hopes to beat the rush. "I can't wait to disappear," he says. "I'd disappear today if I could."

Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

"I've been thrown in jail five or six times," Daulton says from his home in Tampa. "Nicole thinks I'm crazy. She blames everything on drugs and drinking. But I don't take drugs and I'm not a drunk. Nicole just doesn't understand metaphysics."
Darren, I don't mean to judge, but it could be the drugs.

well under wikipedia is says this:

"Daulton holds a series of unusual beliefs related to conspiracies, metaphysics, and numerology. He maintains that the universe is created and sustained by numerical synchronicities, and that all matter is charged with vibrational energy, which has escaped human perception because it is extradimensional in origin. He believes that those who are conscious of this energy can manipulate it to affect reality in different ways, such as altering the weather. He also believes that the pyramids and Mayan temples were created by a lost civilization, and that people with knowledge of the workings of the system will "ascend" at the conclusion of the Mayan calendar, vanishing into a new plane of existence"

his theme song should be "insane in the membrane"...

Wow, the 93' World Series had quite an effect on a couple of guys now....Mitch Williams kind of fell into obscurity after numerous death threats, and now Daulton off the deep end....Meanwhile on the other side of things, Joe Carter is a national hero here in Canada.

Serioulsy though, I always liked Daulton. Great competitor.

Well Daulton has some of the details of the 2012 alignment wrong but it's always interesting to hear of a famous person having esoteric beliefs. As a ballplayer Daulton was a gritty guy. Even tho I cheered for the Jays in '93 I saw Daulton as one of 2 guys on that Phillies squad that i'd like on my team. (the other being Schilling)

Mitch Williams or Lenny Dykstra would have been my guess for "Most likely to quote a Mayan end of the world theory" from that team, but I guess I was wrong...

I remember when Daulton and his wife split up with the Phillies. She became a spokesmodel for Hooters and during Spring Training there were billboards up on all of the stadiums with her in the Hooters' outfit. Maybe that would mess with your mind?

I don't understand knocking a guy for his "religious" beliefs. Do people give you crap or make fun of you for your belief in something?

Let him believe what he wants, it is his right....just like it is yours.
