I think this was a great deal. To all you people complaining about Doc being injury prone well all I can is that's a bunch of hooey. Doc's injury last year was a freak occurance and wasn't arm related. Now if he gets injured for some time this season then I may switch over to the "injury prone" train of thought but for right now Doc is an elite pitcher and a true ace.

He's the best homegrown Blue Jays starter since Dave Stieb and I believe that from now til '10 when his contract expires that he will be THE best starting pitcher the Jays have ever produced.

This extension was done for the right amount of years and the right money as well. I bet you Doc will have a strong season next year. In fact I believe he'll have 20 wins.

I also had no clue who you were talking about. Does that mean that I'm not important enough to hear this news? I know who Roy Halladay is, I enjoy watching him pitch, but because I don't know him by "Doc" I shouldn't be able to get this information? I'm confused here, because this is literally how I feel about it. I went to the website and started yelling aloud "THEN WHY DON'T YOU JUST CALL HIM ROY FRICKIN HALLADAY?!". I mean...I can pretty much guarantee you anywhere from 1-2/3rds of the people who read your statement had no clue who you were talking about. Had you added a "Halladay", well yeah. We get it. But just referencing him as "Doc" and only "Doc"? That's not even a proper use of grammar...and you can see why pretty damned blatantly in how people have responded to this....because nobody understands who you're talking about. The same way that you would say "MLB (Major League Baseball)" in a professional writing manner, you should do the same with nicknames that not many people know.

I don't mean to go off in a rant or get really mad or anything, but stuff like this where the writer goes out of their way either knowingly or unknowingly to segregate the reader, refusing to explain anything that different people from different places might not understand in the same way as them...well...it sticks in my craw.

Bad grammar is one thing....blatantly referring to the same person in the same underused manner over and over again without change....well...that's another.

As for the deal, I think it's definitely a great signing for the Jays. Halladay is a guy who, if handled properly (and the Jays seem to have done just that so far), could be a very good ace for the team and possible teams to come for a long time.

Cripes sake. You act as if I cussed someone out, yelled at them, kicked them in the nuts and spit in their face. In reality all I did was complain about how they referred to a pitcher. I was mostly upset because of the gammar issue. I'm an aspiring writer, and it just makes me upset when I see things like that: Issues that the writer could have easily solved had they not assumed so much.

Another thing was just that I was having problems last night. If I really went overboard (Not my intention) I apologize. The only "issues" I was having last night were because I was just having an incredibly long string of bad luck. The browser froze like 3 times on me while I was trying to write it, and wouldn't let me save anything. It was making me more upset than usual, but I didn't think I went too overboard.

Why is everyone flipping out about a little complaint? pete sake...

No one is flipping out over what you said, but I think I'm not alone in feeling you're coming off as a little off your rocker in your response. You really ought to not take things so seriously...but thats just my opinion

What's the problem. Halladay is referred to as "Doc" by almost anyone in BB.
