Should Baseball have a replay system?

now that basketball and hockey have this, is it time for baseball to impliment this system into their game. it can be used for foul pole homers, and close tags at the bag (or plate). what do you guys think. would it work?....
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

no, I hope not. the games take long enough without reviewing every play.

true, their looking into changing the rules so batter can't step outta the batters box between pitches, amoung other things. but the mananger is given 1 red flag to dispute a call a game....

I wish they would limit the batter stepping out of the box. Or how long they can do it. Stepping out every pitch, adjusting their gloves, and then grabbing thier crotch gets annoying.

No replay, but I have always wondered about the idea of an electronic strike zone. That way we could elminate much of the subjectivity of the home plate umpires.

The home plate umpire could have a buzzer or something to indicate when the ball crossed into the strike zone. Also there would be no waiting for home viewers to see which way the ump is gonna call it.

Damn, Heelfan, me and you think alike. Thats the most annoying part of watching a game. Step out, spit, adjust sleeve, adjust cup, squeeze bat, adjust helmet, take pratice swing, look at third base coach, squint eyes, and take merry time getting back in the box. Flucking annoying!

I like that idea of an electronic strike zone but it would defetnitly make a pitchers performance go way down. It would be 70% more walks in the league then ever. They really dont need replay, I like the way umps judges make bad calls from time to time in all sports. It ads to the excitment of a game. Not blatant calls but either way calls.

I actually think pitchers would benefit... you could program the zone to be exactly as it's outlined in the manual. Umps still don't call the zone correctly. I want more high stikes and less wide ones.

I also like a certain degree of human judgement too, that's why I'd let the make check swing calls, time, safe/out, and HR calls. But the way the strike zone has jumped over the last few years drives me nuts.

Re: SHOULD BASEBALL HAVE A REPLAY SYSTEM?......

As a youth umpire myself i do not like the replay mlb does have limiated replay for home runs fair/foul or fan inteference with fans.

                    1. it be hard to figure out how to do it.
                    2. not all camrea angles will help
                    3. not all umpires would agree to do replay (which i don't blame them)

As you said close tag let say it happen to my team that there was a close tag and the sox lost to the yankees would i be upset and yell at the tv? Yes but than i look at in another way see the umpire view point see what postion he is in. and if was a close call or not.

why i don't want it... human error is part of the game take that away baseball wouldn't be the same.

what i like to see is umpires get togather more and more instead of not asking but at the same time that up to the umpire who made the call. (they there to get teh call right not pick favorites)

Yes, and it's all thanks to the OS thread search feature we have when people create a new post.

Perhaps MLB can expand it, but I really don't want technology judging strike-zones and calls. I like jeering umps at the game.

I don't get why human error is "part of the game".

Is there anything else in life where we're totally fine with getting **** wrong even though we can correct it just because tradition demands it? Times change.
