Why people keep predicting division championships for the Mets never ceases to amaze me.

Yeah all the Mets did was add a top 5 closer and Carlos Delgado to a lineup the already has Reyes,Wright,Beltran and Floyd. The Braves really haven't done anything to improve themselves and the Marlins are in full blown rebuilding mode. Washington has the dumbest GM in baseball and I doubt the Soriano situation ends well. IMO unless the Phillies plan to clone Brett Myers they don't have enough pitching to win in that bandbox. Yeah but other then all that minor stuff I see no reason why anyone would pick the Mets (and this is coming from a Red Sox fan)

Same song and dance we've been hearing from Mets fans for the last how many years after spending a bunch of FA money? How has that turned out?

                        Re: 2006 Predictions

I'm picking the Braves to win the division but I could see why people would pick the Mets.

You can't simply brush off the additions of Wagner and Delgado. Wagner is one of the best closers in the game and Delgado put up a 161 OPS+ last season.

I'll put my money on David Wright to outperform Andruw and Chipper Jones next season.

Outside of having a few rookies/2nd year players stepping in, I'm worried about the Braves closer situation. I don't trust Reitsma and I fully expect to see Devine eventually take over the job.
