Yeah...I thought he was on the Dodgers, so I thought we traded for him....but just saw it was waivers.

        I guess it's not a bad pick-up....in case Youk can't play first, or Lowell can't play 3rd.

Yeah, Snow's just the late-innings, D replacement, but I know the Sox were looking for another 1B with some power.

I really wish some team that actually has an opening would have claimed him instead. He is horrible as a backup, bench player, but has shown good things when he starts consistently.

Choi has a lot of pop...if he can make contact.

                  Yeah, that's pretty much what I've heard/seen.

Hopefully he can be a good addition.

According to Theo since Choi has minor league options he is likely headed to Pawtuckett to start the year to get regular AB's. Choi is as many have said insurance in case Lowell or Youkilis struggle at the plate.

I believe Choi won't just be a bench player. From the looks of this move, Snow will probably be gone, they don't have much faith in Lowell, and Youks is probably best suited for third.

Mid-way through the year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Choi, Loretta, Gonzalez and Youks as our starting infield.

If he had options left why didn't the Dodgers just send him to the minors. With Nomar roaming around at 1b could an injury and opening at 1b be too far off in the future?

Exactly, teams need to stop platooning him (he can hit lefties and righties) or putting him on the bench. He has shown great talent as a hitter and solid defense on every level in the minors. He's probably the Red Sox best pure 1B right now (in terms of power potential and his good batting eye). I'm guessing he dominates in the minors and eventually takes over at 1B for the sox. He could do very well in that lineup.

He's nothing but a bench or platoon player. He can't hit LHP. His stats against LHP the past 3 seasons are .159/.317/.280
