    Building a Team

If you were given a chance to start a major league franchise what player or manager would you pick first

      2. Ken Macha (I think he's the kind of guy that could handle an expansion team)

Probably so, but he's a little overrated. His away numbers aren't that good compared to his home stats.

Pujols, without question. If I had to pick a pitcher, I'd give King Felix a long look along with Johan.

                  Pujols easily.

I'm not sure about the manager.

For manager, I'd have to pick Bobby Cox.

                        Pujols, easy.

                        Pitcher? Santana
                        Manager? Probably Cox.

Pujols. I'm not sure how anyone can justify anyone other than him. He's young, and he's already widely considered the best player in baseball.

                          Pitcher? It's tough. There's a couple I'd consider...Peavy and Santana.

Coach? I don't think you could go wrong with Larussa or Cox, but Joe Torre consistently gets the Yanks to the playoffs in the most scrutinized and pressure packed coaching job in baseball.

                              Re: Building a Team

Just curious, but for those that have chosen a pitcher as the 1 player they'd build a team around, why?

There are some great young arms out there, but a starting pitcher only pitches once out of every 5 games. So that means that pitcher only plays in approximately 35 games a year out of 162 possible for a position player.

                              Anyhow, just wondering.
