Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
There were a few steroid rumours about Gagne as he mysteriously added about 5MPH to all his pitches while he was in the minors one year and the way he has simply blew his arm out makes you wonder. He's done.Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
Throwing a baseball in general isn't good for one's arm, but 3/4 is a bit more natural. This injury isn't really related to his arm slot though, as Extreme Gamer said, this injury to his arm is directly related to overcompensating for a bad knee. Several pitchers have had long lasting careers coming over the top with power.Comment

I am just saying in general pitchers get jack, but the knee I can see that being a problem for him!Comment

A little off topic, but what do they mean when they say the guy is throwing across his body?Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
A pitcher throws across his body when steps away from where his arm is going (I don't know how to say it better). In other words, a righty who throws across his body steps towards third base with his plant foot (ex: KRod) and a lefty who steps towards first base (ex: Joe Kennedy). This throwing motion puts more strain on the shoulder and elbow of a pitcher's arm.Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
Ah, that makes a little sense. I've been trying to figure that out myself for a couple of years. I wanted to know what it is exactly to see if I'm doing that myself, but by that definition it doesn't sound like I am throwing across my body.Comment

One of Montreal's best athletes. What he did in 2003 was remarkable and really gave hope for a lot of kids in this city that want to try and make a career out of Baseball. I really hope he can recover.Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
apparently he'll only be out 6-8 weeks

that might be wishful thinking, but it's still somewhat promisingComment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
Gagne's surgery was successfull and the Pitcher will be out at least 6-8 weeks. It is very possible that Gagne's career is over, even if he is able to pitch again sometime this season his contract ends after the season and you have to wonder who, if any team (including the Dodgers) will give him a chance next year.
Even after adding Furcal and Tomko and Garciaparra it appears the best move the Dodgers made this past winter was acquiring Danys Baez because i have a feeling that Baez will be the Dodgers Closer for most of, if not all of this season.Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
Gagne could easily get a 1 year deal for the Major League minimum, I would think. Especially if he comes back throwing 90+ with his fastball. However, if he finds he's not the pitcher he used to be (which is likely) he may just call it quits since he's already made a ton of money.Comment
