I'm happy to see him doing well too. I was always a big Arroyo fan, unfortunately he was the only pitcher who had any trade value and we had to trade one of them.

I think he'll have a very solid year in the NL. Pitchers who change leagues always have a little bit of an advantage, especially when going from the AL to NL.

Friend of mine went to the game and said the crowd was booing Pena after his misplay in RF. He said he wasn't booing, though I don't believe him.

This isn't surprising, given that we are dealing with cretin Red Sox fans. These dingleberries truly aren't even baseball or Red Sox fans and go to the ballgame as a social event. There is nothing wrong with this, but when you start affecting the demeanor of ballplayers (i.e. - Bellhorn), then it becomes a problem. If I could, I'd love to beat anybody who boos Red Sox players over the head with a sack of pennies.

I guarantee you they will be all over Pena this season, because he WILL continue to strike out. Too bad the mutant ******s can't comprehend that a strikeout isn't the equivalent of being a failure as a ball player.

I agree. I never understood the logic of booing your own player, like that's going to motivate him or something. It's just a stupid way for fans to make themselves thing they're involved. The bottom line is, most people don't understand the game enough to know better. They'll see Arroyo hit a couple HR's and Wily Mo stike out and make a bonehead play in the field and that's enough for them to pass judgement on the trade and Pena's quality as a ball player.

They refuse to look at the fact that Pena is only 24 and has been sitting on the bench for the majority of his major league career, simply because he couldn't be sent down.

We haven't seen what Pena can do. He struck out a lot in Cinci, but he wasn't THIS bad. And as bad as that play in right was today, he hasnt had much time in Fenway and it was a case of him not knowing how close he was to the wall. Clearly he's pressing at the plate a little to be swinging at EVERYTHING. With the right direction, he can turn into a good power hitter who strikes our 120 times, which in today's game isn't a terrible thing. He's going to need a lot of help though and he's going to have to work hard.

No no, it's still 0, because he was at -1 before for giving up that HR .

Yeah that homerun at wrigley field was absolutely ridiculous, out of the ball park from a pitcher! But yeah, I am liking Arroyo so far.
