Yeah I was wrong it was the year before that which Chavez played 125 games and still won the gold glove, not half a year either but a significant amount of time. Sorry been listening to Michael Kay too much.

Re: A-Rod
What rating category was that you were getting from BP, Misfit? Their are so many defensive ones out I can't remember more than 3 of them.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Re: A-Rod
Originally posted by KearnzoAs much as it sucks, considering the Sox could have had him (not that I really care aside from a talent standpoint, we won a WS and that's all I wanted), he has become a better third baseman than he was shortstop. That's the one reason whenever I get in arguments with friends over who the best player in the league is (usually between Pujols and A-Rod), I stick with A-Rod. Because along side of being just as good of a hitter as Pujols and a bigger threat on the basepaths, he is one of the best defensive players in the league as well. So yeah, even being a Sox fan, I can admit how damn good he is, and that he is in fact a better 3B than he was at SS now.
EDIT: Of course, about two seconds after I posted this, I saw Pujols jacked three homeruns in today's game. Heh, talk about irony.Comment

Chavez was the clear winner. He's probably the best in the game right now (though Rolen would have to argue).Comment

Re: A-Rod
You only dislike the measurement because its not kind to Arod. No numerical value is the be all and end all measurement of how good a player is on defense, but a difference in score as big as the one between Chavez and Arod's last year is significant and it can be said that Chavez was superiour at third to Arod in 2005.

It has appeared in the last few BP Annuals. Their defense rating measures how many runs abover or below average the team allowed or saved (0 being neutral, a positive value good and a negative one bad). It is just listed as "Defense."Comment

Like Jets said.. people just need t start watching guys play and not making up new ways to measure the guys' value.
And I'd think youd dislike those ratings more than me as you watch Manny's approach absolute zero with the way he played left last year. This year hes been pretty sick oddly enough. Hes got to make up for his offense somehow.

D'oh
And I've been thumbing through BP06 the past week or so and haven't even noticed that. Thanks“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried.
