Re: Ichiro ????
Ichiro is one of the most unpredictable players in the league.
He can look like the worst hitter I've ever seen...and then he can hit close to .500 for a month.
One of these days he may fall off...but I don't think it's happened yet...just wait and he'll come out of it..he's started slow before.Comment

Re: Ichiro ????
I was worried that last year was a sign, and it might have been. I was wondering how Ichiro could go from hitting .372 one year to .303 just like that. Nobody ever said anything because he's still hitting above .300, and his average over .300 fluctuates a bit. However.... I mean....isn't it a rather ominous sign when a player drops in average by 70 points? If it was anyone else but Ichiro we'd all be saying a combination of "sterroids"(which is most likely ridiculous), "ride is over", and "injury".
I still think Ichiro has a lot of great years in him, I'm just worried that "great" could go from meaning a high avg in the .300's to possibly a .280's or .290's avg, or god forbid worse.
As for his troubles right now? I'm pretty convinced that his performance and lack thereof in this season so far has a lot more to do with the WBC than him falling off, or anything else. Give him a month, and he'll be hitting just fine again.Comment

Re: Ichiro ????
I believe Ichiro will be just fine. I also wouldnt be to worried that droppin .370 to .303 is the Biggest Deal in a world. Thatz still a great batting Average and .370 is just Spectacular.
Now if he cant stay over .300 this year for the year, then Ichiro may be dropping off but I really doubt he's in bad shapeLet's Get Ready To Rumble!Comment

Re: Ichiro ????
Well, he just went 4-4 today. I still think there's a legitimate argument that Ichiro could be losing something, but the thing is that what he's losing is still above .300, so it really doesn't matter all that much.
Good to see some signs of him finally bouncing back.Comment

In 2002 he hit .321 and in 2003 he hit .312.......Everyone was writing articles that pitchers had figured him out....etc etc....and then....in 2004 he hit .372.....
So...I have no idea what he's going to do.Comment

Re: Ichiro ????
I think he needs stop being so hack-happy. He relies on his speed a little too much and when that goes on him his average will really sink (not being able to beat out the infield hits).
He's gone on record as saying he doesn't like to walk, maybe someone should pull him aside and talk to him about that.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Well sooner or later his speed is going to take a hit. I still think he could be a great hitter if he was just more patient.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Originally posted by keRplunKI think he already is a great hitter, but it would probably help if he was more selective...but Ichiro is a different breed of baseball player.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Re: Ichiro ????
As a Mariner fan, I'm not worried about Ichiro. I'm more worried about Beltre. I figured he'd bounce back from his struggles last year, and he looked great at the beginning of the WBC. But he was batting .109 until a few games ago, and just got his first RBI last night. Hopefully, he continues to get better, as he is 4 for his last 10 in the last 3 games."You should only drink to enhance your social skills." -Barney GumbleComment
