As a Mariner fan, I'm not worried about Ichiro. I'm more worried about Beltre. I figured he'd bounce back from his struggles last year, and he looked great at the beginning of the WBC. But he was batting .109 until a few games ago, and just got his first RBI last night. Hopefully, he continues to get better, as he is 4 for his last 10 in the last 3 games.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- 3rd Base is like a black hole for the Mariners. No matter who they bring in, whether they be talented or competent or entirely capable of playing the position and producing with the bat (such as Beltre), they always end up having huge bat problems.


I mean, we brought in a Home Run champ who was hitting well into the .300's, and his average dropped a full 100 points just by moving to the M's. I think a lot is to be said for switching leagues, but there is also a lot to be said for the fact that the M's just can't seem to get ANYONE to produce at third.

Beltre = Roids... He had one good year and banked on it ala Brady Anderson. Never had a season with more then 23 bombs and 85 rbi's then BOUM he bangs 48 hr in one year (contract year by the way) ? Yeah right, It smells fishy to me...

He was always considered one of the most talented players in the league who just never put it together. So...it doesn't really seem like a Brady Anderson type of season. I always thought Beltre was capable of a huge season.

I doubt it was roids. He could be on anything and he wouldn't be able to hit right now. It's his approach that is killing him. In 2005 all you had to do to get Beltre out was throw a slider in the dirt over and over and he'd swing. He just has no idea what he's doing.

Maybe steriods improves your plate discipline but I doubt it.

Beltre definetely does have the talent..he gotta develope some "pitch selection iq".
