BS, classic BK. Saying someone has talent is much different than saying they are going to the HOF.

Barring injury or something else unexpected theres no reason to think Felix won't be one of the best pitchers in the league in a year or two. Sure its pretty stupid to predict this kinda stuff in baseball since a single injury can really ruin a pitchers career, but Felix is probably the most talented young pitcher we've seen in a while.

And this is coming from an Angel fan.

Hernandez was performing better at a younger age than Liriano. Hernandez has had less time to learn pitching strategy. And Hernandez is going into THIS season a year younger than Liriano was when he dominated.

Going by their track records, and having watched both of them pitch I would give a slight edge to Hernandez when it comes to pure "stuff." But really when it comes down to it, when Liriano or Hernandez are "on" you can't hit them so what does it truly matter?

But you've probably seen Felix pitch...what, once or twice? Does Liriano have four top major league pitches? I'm sorry if you don't know what you're talking about.

And once agian, why don't you go leave Schilling a "homer" comment. It's clear he must be a biased mariner fan to say Felix has better stuff than Dwight Gooden did....
He's a Mariner, of course he's the greatest. How silly of anyone to question your bias when it comes to Seattle athletes.

Nice job, you've said the exact same thing again.

"That kid can have a career like Roger Clemens, Nolan Ryan or Pedro Martinez,'' Boston designated hitter David Ortiz said. "If he behaves and takes care of himself, he can be somebody really big in this game. He's very powerful as a pitcher. I don't think I've seen anything like that in a long time.''

Damn, these Mariner homers are all over the place.

Better than Dwight Gooden? ... Comparing him to Clemens, Ryan, and Martinez? Well, Ortiz was in the Mariners orgainzation at one point...that must be it.

It's not like Curt Schilling or David Ortiz know anything about baseball.

Re: What's the scoop with Felix Hernandez?

I have read this thread since its been brought back to life and I'm sorry, but BK Rich, you are either clueless or you have some kind of axe to grind with this Mariner fan.

Felix Hernandez is something special, very special. In fact, I have NO problem saying he has better "stuff" than Johan Santana, but it doesnt mean I think he is better than Santana at this point. Johan is a very deceptive pitcher, he excels b/c he can change speeds and has pinpoint control, a devastating changeup and a plus fastball.

Felix is just wicked. He has the nastiest stuff I have ever seen in my life, and he is only 21. Liriano had filthy stuff too, but in my opinion, Felix's is better. He was very unlucky last year and is an extreme groundball pitcher. Add that to the fact that he k's people at a ridiculous rate at his young age, and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out its only a matter of time before he does indeed do what Mariner fans, as you say, annointed him to do last year. Jeez, who cares if they got excited for a stud pitcher they have?

I know it must suck being a Padre fan and not really having anything to be excited about, but please. Felix is insanely talented. Is he better than Johan? No way, not yet. Can he be? IMO, he can and I think will.

Barring injury, he is the only pitcher in the league I can say that about. And I hate the Mariners. He carved up the Red Sox and basically embarrassed them. Its not a fluke. So am I a homer too?

Age doesn't freaking matter. If a pitcher has better "stuff" it doesn't matter how old he is. Liriano > Felix.

Actually I am more Angel fan than Padres fan. You know the team that pretty much spanks the Yankees on a regular basis.

Point of this thread was last year, all the King Felix hype was a bit premature. Lets let him play a bit before we send him off to Cooperstown.

As I said he's a Mariner, he's obviously the greatest thing ever.

you act like people saying things like this about players, is a rarity. Go read some Sparky Anders qutoes, comparisons like this aren't uncommon. Remember Frank Thomas saying Jeff Weaver's stuff was "Electric ****" and was as good as anyone. Eric Karros saying Darren Dreifort had the filthiest stuff in the game?

He's got great potential, I just love watching you hype up the Ken Lucas, Ken Hamlin's and Felix's of the world. And then act as if you have no bias.

Much like Beltre is better than Chavez in this thread.

Lol. Nice to know all the fans come out the woodshed once they could "clinch" on something. In this case, the rally monkey is no longer with us.

Tell you what. What is the only team to have a better than .500 record against the Yanks in the Torre Era. Who's actually won a title more recently.

Yanks are great, no team gets less out of more than they do.

Barring injury, Felix is gona be a hall of famer. I have no Mariners bias at all but if you were ever gona have to pick a 20 year old to have a hall of fame career, Felix is the guy. BK you realize that people like to make predictions on who they think is going to be good. A big part of sports is predicting who will be good before they do anything. Whenever you post on a thread about young players you always respond with the generic "let him play a few games" response.

I don't see anything wrong with saying Felix has the best stuff in the league.

He's not the best pitcher in the league right now, but I haven't seen anyone say that.
