That's like me saying Rivera is overrated because he blew game 7 vs. Arizona.
Wow..great job. Over 113 IP in playoffs, he finds a moment where Mo loses his cool. In 13 IP for Hoff, I'll find at least two. Yeah, as we can see, these guys are cut from the same cloth.

I'm really not. I'm putting stock in his talent. It's just to make it clear that saying "he has the best stuff in the game" isn't that crazy of a statement. The guy is one of the most unique talents to come into the game in awhile.

13 IP. That's the pool you're working from? Not to mention, I am betting one of the two was the Cards game in 96, in which I Am pretty sure you didn't even see if you did, you probably wouldn't be mentioning it.

But excellent logic, 13 IP in the postseason, and Hoffman is overrated. Really you should be on the hall committee.

Ok, still think you are stretching it. Not sure you're all that unbiased, but he's been dominant so far, so hard to argue at this point.

              I finally got you.

Now say he'll cure cancer by his next start, buy a Felix jersey and join the cult!

Oh, and speaking of extremely hyped 18-19 year olds, Josh Hamilton hit another home run. People thought comparing him to Mickey Mantle was foolish. Faster bat speed than Mark McGwire, 530+ feet home runs, throws 95+ mph, etc etc.

Maybe I can get a jersey that's half Felix and half Tony Romo. That'd be super.

It was said about Andruw Jones that he could be the first guy to ever hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases.

LOL, you are saying Hoffman is overrated because he has a high ERA in the playoffs in only 13 IP. Talk about a small sample size.

Also lets look at some of Hoffman's numbers throughout his career:

                      1.04 WHIP, 150 ERA+, 3.87 K/BB, 9.79 K/9, .599 OPS

Also if you look Hoffman's most similar players, who is #1 on the list?
                      Mariano Rivera.

Exactly. And if you compare the two at Fangraphs its ridiculous how close their #'s are from year to year. I don't know how anyone could say one is better than the other.

Well I'll say that Rivera has the edge over Hoffman. Rivera has been the best postseason closer if not pitcher of all time. Hoffman is very close though, but Rivera's postseason dominance gives him the edge.Rivera also has an ERA+ of 199 compared to Hoffman's 150.

But if I had to choose a closer over the past decade, Hoffman would be my second pick behind Rivera. You also really begin to appreciate how dominate they have been over their careers when you see some closers who were dominate for a few seasons until they flamed out like Brad Lidge and Eric Gagne. It's amazing how consistent Rivera and Hoffman have been throughout their careers, and some of their recent years (Rivera's past 2 seasons, last year for Hoffman) have been some of the best in their career.

Speaking of nasty stuff, anyone see Verlander the other night? The movement on his stuff was insane. 96 MPH and a ton of movement. I cant imagine having to try to hit that
