It wouldn't be that bad for me. I wouldn't even be able to see the ball. 3 quick pitches and I would go sit down. It would be over quick and be quite painless.

Yep, I would be proud to foul tip a 100mph pitch! lol The fastest cage pitching I face was 95 and fouled 5 pitches out 20. lol Plus that was straight, imagine trying to hit a 95 mph with movement.

Maybe it would move into the path of your bat.

          This is not good.

Felix came out today with no control...gave up a couple of hits, walked a batter, then threw a wild pitch. That was his first run of the season, then Cuddyer grounded out to the second basemen which was his second run of the season.

And then, after his second or so pitch to the next batter he waved to the dugout and they took him out of the game.

It appears to be a lower body thing, but it's hard to tell. This could be real bad.

          UPDATE:

He felt tightness in his right elbow. Wonderful, maybe it wasn't the best idea to pitch him 8 and 9 innings at the start of the season. I'm glad he took himself out, and didn't try to pitch through it, young pitchers and their injuries...Wood, Prior, Liriano, etc etc

So what's the thought process here? Is it just him being overworked/bad luck, or is possible letting him throw the slider has backfired?

              From Ussmariner.com:

"Official News is “flexor strain”, won’t throw for 5 days, will be re-evaluated after that. “As good news as you can get”, per the doctor. Whew!"

It's hard to tell. I don't think he's been overworked because he hasn't had any 120+ pitches in his games this season. But to have him go 8-9 innings his first two starts of the season seems to be unwise. Most pitchers aren't ready out of the gate to push themselves like that. And yes, I wouldn't be surprised if throwing the slider more is putting extra strain on his elbow. It seems to be a demanding pitch, ask Kerry Wood, or Liriano. I noticed that during the game he started to only throw fastballs and change-ups. Something seemed wrong, and it was. I'm glad he had the foresight to pull himself before this turns into a season ender, I know alot of injuries are from not being able to tell themselves the truth when it comes to pain.
