Even if Carlos only puts up .260/.330/.415 over his career with the Mets he's doing a helluva lot more for the organization than Park ever did for the Rangers.
Yeah, Chan Ho was bad for the Rangers but that doesn't change the fact that Carlos is bad for the Mets.

I completely agree, if he continues with his current rate of production, Beltran is greatly overpaid. In the grand scheme of things though, I wouldn't call it one of the ten worst signings ever. A bad deal all the way around, given his lack of prolonged greatness, but the Parks, Browns, Dreiforts, Hamptons, Vaughns, etc were all much more maligned signings. I would even go as far to say that Adrian Beltre was the worst big-deal signing of the pre-2005 offseason, instead of Beltran.

Beltrans numbers dropped considerably across the board after coming to New York. 38 HRs to 16 HRs, 28 SB to 17 SB, .926 OPS to .744 OPS. $100 million dollars for an average player?
LOL! It was one year dude....and he had injuries bothering him all year. Adrian Beltre's contract was worse because he had ONE good year in the last year of his last contract and the Mariners signed him to a huge contract. Of course he drops back to being an average player again. Beltran on the other hand has had plenty of great years so far in his career. Of course if he keeps having nagging injuries then the contract will probably look pretty bad but he's only 29 and has a fairly good health history.

Andy Ashby for the Dodgers... I mean they lost a first round pick because of signing him.

Then comes my favorite which would be Kevin Brown with the Dodgers. He did next to nothing while racking up all the dough.

Good point. Beltre cant even hit above .200 right now and only had one good year in his entire career. At least Beltran has shown he could actually play baseball before he got paid. Even though Beltran is getting paid more, I can tend to agree with you thus far about Beltre. I'd take Beltran over Beltre any day, just not for $100 million.

That's because Beltran is ALOT better in just about every stat there is. It still doesn't change the fact that Beltre's contract was worse. Also, year by year, the contracts are pretty similar.

Beltran showed that he could play while getting paid actually. He made plenty of money from '02 to '04 (he made 9 mil. in 2004 and 6 mil in '03 according to baseball-reference.com).

It wasn't that he was that bad of a player, but that he was grossly overpaid for what he was. He was making $6 mil a year if I remember correctly and he was about the equivalent of Todd Walker with a little less pop in his bat and maybe a little more speed. He was a $2 mil guy at best.

I second that. Stuff knocked me out for a good two weeks, couldn't even walk. I still have to randomly pop some meclizine (sp?) from time to time.

I wonder why his career is falling apart in a Mets uniform? They must be cursed.
