Unless his being killed had anything to do with Drugs or alcohol, that is really a cold thing to say.

I feel sorry for his family members, and those who are grieving right now, but for him...not so much. Not trying to be a dick or anything, just stating how I feel.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

But I don't mean to make this a "piss on Steve Howe" thread because I didn't mean to turn it into that. So I'll leave those as my last comments.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: Steve Howe killed in car crash
Eli you really can't judge a person like that man. I know he was a rampant drug and alcohol abuser and it seems to me he probably never reformed but the general idea is to put that asside and pay respects.
you can call him out on his abuses AFTER tho.
Anywho, RIP to Howe. He had so much potential to be one of the great relievers of all time. It's a shame that substance abuse took that away from him.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

man..sorry to hear.. i can remember him as a Yank (not really so much as a Dodger).. i remember a game when he tried to pick a guy off third he threw the ball into the stands.. at least he is a peace now & doesnt have to fight his evils anymore. . RIP HoweComment

Re: Steve Howe killed in car crash
I'm gonna agree with Eli on this one. I really have no sympathy for anyone who does drugs. I just don't really understand it. You know it can ruin your life, but you do it anyways.
It is a tragedy however to die at 48. I feel for his loved ones.Comment

Re: Steve Howe killed in car crash
Putting his troubles aside for a sec.....RIP. Too young to be dead. As for his demons....as long as he did drugs he just hurt himself. It's not like he raped someone, beat someone, or killed someone. It was his choice, and his disease he had to fight. At least now maybe he doesn't have to fight those demons anymore. I know how the family feels, because a lot of my family members have been rampant drug users. Doesn't mean I love them any less. Yes it's sad to see them the way they are, but again I still love them.President of the Devils Den

Re: Steve Howe killed in car crash
Just amazing that 2 of you could basically care less that he's dead. Sure, he wasted away his career, and I don't have anything for drug users either. But I also know what temptations can be and what can happen. He fell in a trap, and eventually got clean after his baseball life was over.
So, Eli, if Derek Jeter gets busted for roids tomorrow, are you going to wish for his death too?Comment

I'll give an analogy...If I found out today, my mom had lung cancer (which she could perhaps later on, as she smoked a good while), I wouldn't feel sympathy because she knew the consequences of smoking. It'd absolutely kill me inside knowing she had it, and nothing I could do to stop it. May sound harsh, but if you know the affects of something harmful and continue to do it, I just can't feel bad for them.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment
