He's horrendous, hopefully with Steve Stone there now we could actually see less of Berman in the booth.

It's one thing to be chit-chatty and tell stories but when you're kibitzing with the analysts to the exclusion of what's happening on the field then you know you're not cut out to be a baseball announcer.

I'd actually like to see Berman try football and see if he could pull that off.

He sucks as an announcer BIG TIME!!!! And no offense to Terrance Long because that catch he made at the wall in Boston was a great one. But ESPN makes it look like the Willie Mays over the shoulder catch in the World Series because Chris Berman called the game. Get over yourselves you egotistacal jerks!!!!!!!

To be honest, I don't really mind him. I also don't understand why everybody is so critical of announcers, particularly national announcers. To me, the criticism of announcers and managers is more hackneyed and played out than stories about Titney Spears.

Berman is a great announcer, just ESPN has better and also he is a really good football announcer so he gets overlooked because he is good there and not as good at baseball.

You know it's funny. If there's people old enough to remember, Berman was VERY good without all the crazy references and over the top presentation. I have some pre-game of the Dolphins/Bears MNF game from '85 and he was totally professional and conservative.

ESPN needs more of that kind of presentation these days IMO.
