Damn, I don't think I heard about that. It's sad that journalists will stoop to such low levels just to get people talking about them.

Regardless of what Mariotti said, Guillen had no comeback, so he resorted to calling him names and calling him a piece of %$%^. That just shows a lack of maturity and someone should tell Guillen to grow up. It's just like on here, when people get into arguements, you can tell when someone's lost the arguement when they resort to name calling. Obviously, Guillen lost and had no real comeback for Mariotti's criticisim of him.

Basically Mariotti is an internet troll, anyone who said half the garbage he does would likely be banned from any web site. However this troll happens to be a little more eloquent with his words and landed a job at a somewhat respectable newspaper. I definitely think Guillen should have shown a little more restraint, but Mariotti has had it coming for a long time now. The guy is quite frankly an idiot when it comes to sports. Perhaps he should move to Orlando and work for the Orlando Sentinal, that is where is type (Mike Bianchi, some new woman) thrive.

Are you trying to infer that Mariotti is a "fag". (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

wait, when did this happen?? I was too busy watching the Sox kill everyones pridiction for the WS by the scores of 20-6 and 13-5.

But seriously, everyone makes mistakes, who cares, lets move on. He is easily a top 5 manager in baseball and besides mariotti is a bundle of sticks

This is just an observation from me about ESPN radio. I didn't know people weren't allowed to say "fag" on american radio.

Now there is one thing I have a problem with Ozzie, and it looks like he's starting to do it, is to backtrack his comments.

Ozzie just needs to stick by his guns and make no further explaination on why he said it. If he's a [beeping] fag then he's a [beeping] fag because Ozzie says so.

Many Chicago sports fans realize that 'Gay' Mariotti is a tool. For his many wasted years as a Chicago Suntimes sports writer he has nothing but negativity to all sports franchises in this city. FOR CHRIST SAKES, he was up-and-down with the Bulls DURING THE CHAMPIONSHIP YEARS! This guy has had a personal vendeda against Jerry Reinsdorf for years and he let's this personal fued cloud his judgement of being a fair sports journalist. This was the same guy last year who predicted the White Sox would win 84 games last year and wouldn't make the playoffs. I had no problem with him making that prediction BUT what I didn't like was his comment about the White Sox will never win a chmapionship with Reinsdorf as it's owner. On what basis? Trust me, I'm no Reinsdorf fan BUT who was the owner of the Bulls during those 6 championships? Give credit where credit is due M.F.! NOW, one of the Chicago organizations he actually likes in the Cubs he's looking to get rid of Dusty Baker. Well...I can't say anything about that because he's always been anit-Dusty. Even the year they went to the playoffs.

Mariotti is so bad he's not even liked among his peers. Any Chicago sports fan who listens to WMVP-ESPN 1000 AM remembers the fued he had with Tony Kornheiser after ESPN 1000 dropped Kornheiser's nationally syndicated show for Mariotti's. Thank God that show didn't last long. He also had a dispute with Woody Paige while both of them worked for the Denver Post. However, they squashed their beef and they are both on Around the Horn.

Going back to Ozzie's comments. Is Ozzie wrong for saying what he said? Yes! Am I wrong to agree with him? No doubt. But when it's about Mariotti, I couldn't agree any more. HE GETS NO RESPECT.

Man, you took the words right out of my mouth. Mariotti goes up and down with each team spewing his garbage then when they go somewhere, he's quick to claim he knew it all along.

Anyway, Mariotti has always reminded me of Arliss for some strange reason.

Don't try using logic with Sox fans Kdogg, you should know better.

I don't see why anyone is suprised. This is how Ozzie has ALWAYS been. But the media LOVES him. The one thing he's too stupid to understand is that the media makes you and breaks you in this town. If he want's to be the baseball Ditka of Chicago than he'd better change his tune, cuz beleive me, they'll run him right out of town.

Then the only fans he'll have left are the William Ligue Jr's of the world.

Yes, because interferring with a batted ball during a mere baseball game is totally comparable -- worse, even -- than beating the living crap out of someone who did nothing to provoke you.

                          Excellent comeback, chief.

Seriously, is that really how you want to try and justify the Ligues' attack? By saying that at least they weren't trying to catch a foulball that may or may not have been in play? Good god.

I'm thinking that was just a joke . . . at least I hope so. I don't think many rational people consider the Ligue's to be typical of White Sox fans, just as the following guests at the "friendly confines" don't necessarilly reflect the Cubs fan base as a whole.

                              Date: May 16, 2000
                              Setting: Wrigley Field

Backup Dodgers catcher Chad Kreuter was sitting in the bullpen when a fan hit him in the head and stole his cap. Kreuter and several Dodgers went into the stands and a mob scene ensued. Sixteen Los Angeles players and three coaches were given suspensions.

                              Date: Sept. 28, 1995
                              Setting: Wrigley Field

With the Cubs still in the wild-card race, Cubs reliever Randy Myers gave up a key ninth-inning home run to James Mouton that gave the Astros a 9-7 lead. As Mouton rounded the bases, a 27-year-old bond trader named John Murray came charging in from the right-field stands. Myers used his martial arts training to subdue Murray, who later claimed he pulled the stunt as a dare with his friends. "I was watching the game with some friends and I told them if Myers gives up another homer to a guy I'm going to run out on the field and yell at him," Murray said. "In retrospect, it was a bad move on my part." Um, yeah.
