    Best Starter/Closer Tag-Team

I did a thread like this last year, I believe... and I was interested to see, who you guys thought is the best Starter/Closer tagteam this season.

I would have to go with...

    Curt Schilling & Jon Papelbon
    SAN ANTONIO SPURS

    Santana & Nathan.
    Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

Halladay and BJ Ryan deserve mentioning here.

        Hmmm....

If its game seven of the WS, and I have one starter/closer combo picked to win one game....

        You would have to consider:
        -Pedro and Wagner
        -Santana and Nathan
        -Schilling and Papelbon

Mussina and Rivera also deserve mentioning, based on this year, although Moose had a rough June.

Personally, if its one game, (e.g., game seven of the WS), I would want Randy Johnson.

and I haven't been sold on anyone in the Yanks' bullpen lately... As far as experience coming into play if it was to come down to a final game... I would then have to go with Santana & Nathan.

I dunno. Neither Santana or Nathan have had much postseason experience or success.

Out of those named so far Curt Schilling has had the most postseason success but Papelbon has only pitched 2 games. I'd have to go with Johnson/Mussina and Rivera if you're looking at it like a game 7 situation.

                    Pedro/Wagner
                    Schilling/Papelbon

Would be my top 3(not in any order.)

in two years Verlander and Zumaya

                      Zito and Street
                      Contreras and Jenks
                      should at least be mentioned.

Even though I'm a Met fan.....
Halladay and Ryan look pretty tight this year.....even though the umps seem to give Ryan a 6 foot wide strike zone. Game 2 of the last series was atrocious in the ninth on the first two Met batters.
Other than that...this year I'd be more inclined with Glavine and Wagner. Pedro hasn't been as sharp as previous years, while Glavine has once again figured out a way to get hitters out regularly. Amazing.

In a year or two, Bedard and Chris Ray.

                          Now, probably Halladay/Ryan.

                            Halladay and Ryan.

Halladay is obviously one of the best pitchers in baseball, and Ryan is having as good of a season as Papelbon.

Schilling and Papelbon, Mussina and Rivera, and Santana and Nathan also deserve consideration.

I'm afraid Bedard will never live up to his potential. 1 maybe 2 good years (17+ wins), but that's it.
