Mike Pelfrey/Henry Owens, the best duo in the league...the Eastern League.

Might be a little too early to jump on the papelbon train. Some closers have had 1 or 2 outstanding seasons, then became horrible. Hell, the sox had a handful of these guys in the past few seasons.

      Such as.
      Billy Koch
      Shingo Takatsu
      Keith Foluke

That being said the best two closers in the game are Mariano Rivera and Bobby Jenks. Both are postseason proven and have overpowering stuff.

However neither one of them has a really good starter. Contreras may be 8-0 be he is really hit or miss. When he's on the mound you don't get that lights out feeling that you do when Pedro or Santana are throwing.

So my choice for the must win game is....

Johan Santana the first 8 innings then have him close out his own game.

Foulke had 1 or 2 outstanding seasons? Try 6.5... Before last year he hadn't had an era over 3 since 1998, yea... You're def of outstanding seasons is a 'bit' off. Even still, the guy is and has been hurt since the beginning of last year. He still isn't right and probably never will be again. He didn't flame out, his knee gave out.

Jenks one of the top 2 closers in the game??? Papelbon has been better than him this season, and Papelbon had 4IP in last year's playoffs. It isn't like he imploded. He gave up 2 hits and 0 runs while K'n 2. So far this year Papelbon has easily been the best closer in MLB.

I forgot to add... Beckett has a 3.6ERA if you get rid of his 3 losses. I know that's a cop out. Just saying, in those 3 losses he has given up 6 bombs and 22ER. Other than those 3 starts he has been pretty damn good.

Let me get this straight...you tell people to be careful about jumping on the Papelbon bandwagon because there's a lot of closers who have 1 or 2 good seasons and then flame out......and then you say BOBBY JENKS is one of the top 2 closers in the game?

He's been great, but B.J. Ryan is right there with him. They have the same ERA, and Ryan has a slightly better WHIP, a better BAA, and more strikeouts.
