At least that's the way I see it. When dealing with that type of money, I'd go to the better team as well. That is unless the difference in money was very substantial (5 MIL isn't substantial).

There also might've been something in the wording for the other 2 contracts that turned off Konerko. I've heard from numerous sources that O's Owner Peter Angelos puts a ton of clauses into contracts and players are hesitant to sign due to some of them.
It's a lot easier to just say "White Sox > Angels."

        Frustration?

Must be because Cleveland didn't live up to their potential of being White Sox killers. Sorry to say I told you so BUT your manager is over rated.

          Joe Crede's stats: .300 BA, 16 HR, 57 RBI, .333 OBP, .529 SLG, .862 OPS, .969 FLD %
          A-Rod's stats: .285 BA, 19 HR, 64 RBI, .394 OBP, .522 SLG, .916 OPS, .938 FLD %

I don't have a problem with Crede being on the AL All-Star team. Just sayin'.

I wouldn't have a problem with Crede being the replacement, because Liriano will most likely be added to the All-Star team. Since an extra pitcher would be added into the fold, I don't have an issue with an extra hitter being added if a pitcher drops out.

But Hafner should already be on the team: 24 homers, 70 rbis, leads the AL in OPS.

Crede has a .333 obp... terrible.

I agree that it's a joke, but I'm not too upset about it. Did anybody really expect Ozzie to do anything else?

It should be interesting to see if he does add Joe Crede. Manny is dropping out, so there's an extra slot to fill.

Yeah, but not enough to complain about this. Besides, after last nights *** kicking, I don't know how much HFA is going to matter to the Yanks come October.

From my understanding, Joe Torre has been doing the exact same thing Ozzie is doing for years when he used to win chips. What can Ozzie do besides kill himself to make you guys happy.

Joe Torre probably has taken some of his guys, but I can't remember any blatant picks like Buerhle over Liriano and Konerko over Hafner. I don't see how any reasonable White Sox fan can defend Ozzie in this case.

it may be unfair, but thats just how it works.

i see it as more of an mvp type thing.

not necessarily whose better individually but who contributes to the team more.

Lariano is a #2, #3 starter on the 3rd place team in a division where as buerhle is the ace of the 2nd best team in the AL.

I think its the same concept as why Varitek is the starting catcher and Mauer is on the bench.

If Mauer was doing so good, then why isnt his team in first. Thats not how it should be run, but that is why the yanks and redsox always have at least 4 or 5 guys.
