I'm not a huge Zito fan, but I think he'd do well in NY with their huge LF.

Re: Is Gary Sheffield done with NY?
Sheffield will ony be back next year if he comes back as a first baseman and shows that he's good in the field. The Yankees would rather have an outfield of Matsui, Damon, and Abreu and someone to man first so that Giambi stays as far away from a glove as possible.Comment

When the Marlins traded Sheffield to the Dodgers in 1998 he spent the entire season whining about having to play LF, After the '98 season he told the Dodgers that if he did not play RF the next season then they would have to trade him. This went back and fourth for a couple of months and then the Dodgers asked Raul Mondesi to move from RF to LF, Mondesi wasn't happy in Left and would be traded after the '99 season.
Sheffield is not a team first kind of guy and while he is a very athletic player and could easily make the transisition from the OF to 1B he will probably balk at the idea of moving. Someone will sign him over the winter, but he may have to open up to the idea of playing different position be it the OF, 1B or DH.Comment

Re: Is Gary Sheffield done with NY?
Sheff is done in NY
The OF in '07: Abreu, Damon, Matsui
1B: Giambi
He could be the DH but I don't know if Sheff wants to be an everyday DH type.
You guys should be happy that he could be leaving next year. He's at an age now where you don't know when his production will suddenly plummett to the basement.

Find me one quote from Sheffield or his agent that says he doesnt want to DH everyday.
Giambi said he doesnt like to DH, what has he been doing the past month?Comment

They are not going to sign Lee. They could move Soriano back to 2B and trade Cano for some pitching. In the AL there is such a thing called the DH, so you can have 4 guys who play the OF play everyday.Comment

The Yankees need the DH spot available for Giambi at times, and maybe to spell the other 3 outfielders once in awhile.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Would you accept it if someone at your job (assuming you work) told you that you had to move your desk even though you've been working there (and love it) for the past 10 years?
You'd complain about it too. These players have a favorite position that they are comfortable with and has helped them become all-stars. Why would they want to move? Why should they move? For the good of the team? When I pick up a glove I want to play where I like. And I guarentee you do too."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
