I had to get stitches because I dived into my bed and missed when I was like 4, trying to be Gary Carter.

Sorry Mattingly just wasn't good enough for enough years to be a HOF.

Yeah he was, he hit .307 for his career, even after all those years he was hurt.

Are you kidding me? He was gold glove material and a .300 hitter w/ a bad back his whole career. If anyone even brings up the ring argument... he had to play with Steve Sax throwing the ball who knows where and Balbino and all those guys.

Seriously though, he's Donnie Baseball, he was good, he was amazingly good.

Bryan I wouldn't kid you, Go to this link and look at his stats, and tell me you honestly think that he belongs in the Hall, when you compare him to other first basemen in the HOF.

He had some great years, but just not enough of them.

go and look at his records

He was a good player and great for the game itself. Not every stat can show up on a stat sheet.

Remember that record that everyone was going crazy about last year with Thome? Who was he chasing again? Everyone kinda forgot to mention that part.

I am a great guy but I don't belong it the Hall of Fame, you are going to have to settle for him being in the Indiana Sports hall of fame.

One record does not make a HOFer.

Don Mattingly was the man in the mid 80s. The second half of his career he was playing with a bad back and he still managed to have a batting average over 300. When he made it to the post season he batted over 400 and had 10 hits in 5 games. He was also one of the hardest guys to fan. He has only 444 total strikeouts to 222 homeruns.

Don Mattingly was great. He played the second half of his career with a bad back and still managed to hit over .300. He won 9 gold gloves at first base, a batting crown and a MVP. When he made it to the post season, he hit over .400 with 10 hits in five games. He was also one of the hardest people to fan, striking out 444 times in his career to 222 homeruns.

He was great in the mid 80's, which covers about 3 or 4 years, that doesn't make him a hall of famer.

I think the biggest travesty is the lack of love for Jack Morris. What does this guy have to do? He's the winningest pitcher of the 80's! He takes the Tigers, Jays, and Twins to the Series. He was, arguably, one of the greatest big game pitchers of all time. 233 wins...over 500 consecutive starts without a miss...a no-hitter...started 13 straight opening days (80-92)...1991 World Series MVP...5 Time All-Star... Come on!!! Jack Morris deserves to be in the HOF!

                              Next one...

Alan Trammell... apparently back flips are what makes you a HOF SS. I love Ozzie, but put his numbers against Tram's and I question Ozzie being a 1st ballot HOFamer when Tram only got like 6% of the ballots.

                              Trammel's Stats (Ozzie in quotes)
                              - Gamer played: 2,293 (2573)
                              - Hits: 2,365 (2460)
                              - Runs: 1,231 (1257)
                              - Doubles: 412 (402)
                              - Stolen bases: 236 (580)
                              - Career BA: .285 (.262)
                              - HR: 185 (28)
                              - RBI: 1,003 (793)
                              - 6 All Star Games (15)
                              - 4 Gold Gloves (13)
                              - 1984 World Series MVP (None)

Compare their stats and tell me how Ozzie is a runaway 1st ballot HOFamer and Tram gets no love!! Yes, Ozzie's gold gloves are impressive, but he had no competition in the NL. Tram competed year in and out with Tony Fernandez and, eventually, Omar Vizquel. Tram deserves the love!! Maybe he's not a Hall of Famer, but he deserves to be on far more ballots if Ozzie is!
