Toss up between the two Sox's.

Another big disappointment would have to be the Indians, with their huge hype coming into the season.

I think that it is kind of hard to call the Red Sox the biggest letdown team when you consider that they lost Ortiz, Ramirez, Varitek, Nixon, Wakefield, Clement, Crisp, Foulke, Lester and Pena for significant time throughout the season, no team could contend with that many injury's to key players.

I have to say the Giants are a letdown because they had a short window of opportunity to begin with and did nothing with it. They added Matt Morris to a pitching staff that included Jason Schmidt and both underachieved this season and they had a healthy Barry Bonds for most of the season and it did little to help them contend in what was (is?) a fairly weak NL West.

Probably the Red Sox....because of their expectations.

Personally, the Braves, although on a grand scale they were expected to falter and finally did, albeit due to a lot of different factors that could have been controlled (bullpen) and some that couldn't (injuries)

          • Red Sox - That payroll, and what to show for it?
          • White Sox - So much for defending the crown, huh?
          • Indians - Wasn't this supposed to be the year all the young talent came together?
          • Braves - Okay, it was going to happen eventually, but come on.. at least make it exciting.

I suppose the last two are flexible enough to swap places, but all four of these teams did horrible jobs of fulfilling expectations.

Now, biggest letdown player? That's an even better question.

My Reds....... they made good late season additions and had the bats, but just folded.

Yeah, the Reds looked like the team to beat for the Wild Card for a lot of the season... but just gave out.

Soxes & Indians. Basically a letdown because of all that hype that occurred last year. They're not even a factor in the post season.
