You people who say you'd take ARod any day of the week make me laugh

    Yes, he hit .290.
    Yes, he hit 35 homers.
    Yes, he had 121 RBI's.

Five things you guys fail to remember:

    1. He plays for the Yankees. Any decent hitter can knock in runs with this lineup.

    2. $25 million per year. Pujols isn't worth $25 million and he is 3x the player ARod is.

    3. $215 million payroll and the most World Series in sports. You have to EXPECT pressure if you come to NY.

    4. He ASKED out of Texas because he wanted to play for a "contender." He got his wish. Now he'll get his wish next year when he's on Anaheim.

    5. After all this crap, he STILL has an ego the size of Texas.

Would you pay $25 million for those numbers? I wouldn't. So don't say you'd take him any day of the week because remember, with those numbers comes a bloated salary and a bloated ego.

Buddy, you guys have a lot more things to worry about than A-Rod.

Go tell your Boss to spend his money in the right places and buy you guys some pitching.

Joey, that is EXACLY the reason we need to get rid of ARod's bloated salary . . so we can get rid of losers like Jaret Wright, Corey Lidle, and Randy Johnsucks and pick up some decent pitchers.

You people who say things like, "He'll get his wish next year when he's on Anaheim," don't know what your talking about. He has a no-trade clause. He's not going anywhere unless he wants too. If he wanted to leave he would've left after last year's playoff debacle.

It's not like money has anything to do with it. They can spend as much as they want, it's just the fact that they're wasting their time with losers like Pavano and Wright.

Porsche, that's exactly the point, after this year and the raping the papers and his teammates give him, he won't want to be back next year.

A bunch of us said how they need to get rid of Alex Rodriguez a couple months ago, and were overwhelmingly laughed at by the majority of this board. At this point, he is a gigantic distraction for the team. It's obvious that almost nobody on the team likes him, including Torre. Dude's gotta go.

A tremendous arguement backed up by overwhelming statistical evidence.

I bet it was his teammates who hit those HR for him and got him that high OPS.

Its enough already. We know hes struggled in the recent playoffs... but he's still a top 5 player.

And if you think I'm biased.. think again. I'm asbsolutely sick of A-Rod. But the arguement that "he sucks" is just ridiculous.

And I completely agree. You know, it can't hurt to have a top 3 best player in baseball -- but the problem is, the guy just chokes in the postseason, plain and simple.

But like I said earlier, Steinbrenner spends his money in the wrong places. Where he needs to spend his money is in your farm system, so you can get some good, young pitching -- not go and get potential "quick-fixes" in washed up 40 year olds like Randy Johnson.

Like I said in the Tigers/Yankees thread: In the postseason, good pitching beats great hitting, all the time. Without a bullpen, well, you can just fuggetaboutit.

See, it's ridiculous posts like this that make me laugh. It's a fact that his stats are padded. He gets all of his numbers in non-crucial situations. Top 5 player my ***. He isn't close. Top 5 players perform in the clutch. ARod has NO clutch ability whatsoever.

And again, $25 MILLION!!! Do you FORGET about this little number when you make posts like that? He isn't worth that money, not close.

Maybe you're right. The only thing is they could get bit in the *** if he goes to the Angels and helps them win the WS. He won't be counted on as much as with the Yankees, because they have Vlad. Obviously he can't handle pressure so that situation might be more appealing to him. The guy said when he came here that he wanted to help us win a WS. If he really wants to prove every one that rips him wrong then he'll stick around till he does that.

                              1. He did this in Seattle and Texas, so I dont think the lineup matters, although i'm sure it helps to a degree.

                              2. He didnt put a gun to anybodies head and tell them to pay him $25 mill. Odds are, if someone offered you $25 mill to do your job, you'd take it. Quickly.

                              3. I dont think he's upset with the pressure he's facing. He has every right to be upset with the way he's playing. I think he gets a bad rap because of the record setting contract. If anything, Hicks is a moron for paying him that much. Why no disrespect for Chan Ho Park for fleecing Hicks for the contract he got. Actually, why not aim this "hate" towards Boras for getting his clients such large contracts. How dare he

                              4. People have the right to leave their jobs anytime they want. The only thing I hold against him is the fact he signed a contract, but to play devils advocate, teams trade guys all the time. Arod produced everywhere he's played. The Rangers did an awful job building a team around him. And dont try to blame the contract as a means of them being constricted in their efforts to build a team. THEY signed him, not the other way around.

                              5. Maybe. I dont know him the way you do.

And I would love for the cubbies to sign/trade for him. Any team, IMO, should be tickled to have him on their roster. Those that say otherwise dont care about winning. And the yankees, right or wrong, do that by paying for the best players. I dont necessarily agree with it, but its their money. They pay the luxury tax. Other teams dont use the money they recieve because of that tax. Thats the true crime, IMO and the ultimate insult to their fans.
