ding, ding, ding!!! you are absolutely correct. It all comes down to money. Fox doesn't care what we want or think - as long as Fox is getting paid, Fox is happy!

I honestly couldn't care less about the dual coverage, just put both games in HD for goodness sake!

Very stupid idea to split the coverage, but I guess maybe I can just have one running on TVU and one on the regular TV. That is, if the Mets/Cardinals game isnt postponed tonight....

        But, that's what confuses me.

FOX is also interested in winning the ratings war with other networks. Having two games on at the same time will lower the ratings for the game on FOX.

I guess they must know something I don't. To me, it doesn't make much sense. But, then again I'm not behind the scenes so I don't have all the info they have.

Just think, now you only get one game tonight.

It's kind of weird that they wouldn't split the coverage for the division series (where the Padre/Cardinal games were played at 1PM - during working hours for both cities), but they'll split it for the league championship series.

I never really thought of a ratings war because I live on the WC (Cali) - it's not primetime yet. On the EC, it's primetime though. I guess they feel if they have two "main events" during primetime, they will have more marketshare/ratings than if showing only one game game during primetime. Does this make sense?

They will make more money have two games on at the same time rather than showing both games at different times of the day...

Two things: 1) Im betting the more regional game is on Fox so in every region, the more relevant team is on the main channel and, 2) he is suggesting that Fox is robbing Peter to pay Paul but in actuality, even if someone watches the game on Fox FX, yes theyre not watching Fox but theyre also not watching the other networks.

                    That's a very good point.

                    I'm guessing that's FOX's stance on this.

I just thought that FOX would prefer that people watch FOX instead of FX. NBC doesn't care how FX does in ratings (probably because FX, like every other cable channel doesn't do well compared to national channels). I just thought FOX would want to win the ratings war.

If people watch FX then they don't watch FOX. I think that's equally disappointing for the network as someone not watching FOX because they are watching NBC.

Theyre probably banking on the vast majority of the people in a region watching regional teams (which Im assuming are on Fox). Regional sensitivity really became apparent in 2002 when it was an all CA series. I think the ratings werent that great for that WS.

We might see some snow in the ALCS a la the Yanks/Indians in the 90's.
