He'll be in SF next year... whether it be on the field or on his couch.

I guarentee half the owners in this league could a **** about tradition, pride, etc. It's all about the dollar and if more people get in those seats to watch Bonds, I bet someone will pay enough for him.

Nomar and Frank Thomas have also filed for free agency.

I strongly agree. How naive can you actually be?

Would you rather have Hank Aaron or Barry Bonds holding the All-Time HR mark? Stupid question........
yeah right. You're talking about the league that not only marketed the outcome of player steroid use, but they also considered putting spiderman graphics on the bases until the fans bitched about it. If no team offers him a deal, it won't be because of history or pride. It'll be because the public just doesn't care. The benefit of signing him won't be as great as it could be. I don't think many people actually hate him, but many just don't care.

Bonds will put fans in the seats. The fans may actually be there to boo him, but they'll still be there. He's a plus for owners. From a baseball perspective, any NL team that goes after him is a fool in my opinion. He's awful out in left and he's going to need a lot of days off if he's out there. Only AL teams should consider signing Bonds. The Angels make the most sense since they need a high OBP, high power guy to complete their lineup, so long as they think Guerrero can play the field everyday. Oakland has too many DH types to really make a lot of sense.

Re: Barry Bonds to become a free agent

but this is all moot, as the giants have dealt with bonds too long not to benefit from him breaking the record, which he'll do next season. Might as well bring him back one more time.

Re: Barry Bonds to become a free agent

Any team will benefit while having him. The problem is he needs to stop being a ***** and go out there every game for all nine innings. I don't care if you're old... look at Julio Franco for Christ's sake! Either play the game, or retire.

Barry, I don't want you to keep playing to get 755 (which I want him to get). I want you to keep playing because I (as many other fans) love to watch you play the game, and because to me 3,000 hits is much more important than 755 career home runs. To me, sometimes milestones are just better than records.

To me, 700 is more important than 3,000... but then 3,000 is more important than 755. Like I said, I appreciate milestones over records, though I would prefer that Bonds shatters it before he retires.

After the 2001 season when Barry Bonds hit 73 HR's he bacame a free agent and NO ONE not ONE TEAM offered him a contract which is why he went back to the Giants. This was before the steroid alligations and the books and everything that follows along with Bonds and no one wanted him. With all the baggage that Bonds carries i don't think teams will be lining up to sign him which is why i believe he will play for the Giants next season, they have stuck it out with him for too long not bring him back when he is so close to the record.

To say he's only loved in the Bay Area would be naive on my part, but he's most loved up in SF...where he belongs. SF is NOT cool!
