Seriously, Ernie Banks!?! I've got more money than Ernie Banks.

Just be forwarned. A new ownership group is not going to have the deep pockets the Trib has. They may not be able to pony up the 100 mil dollars it takes to compete. Be careful what you wish for. You do realize the Cubs outspent every team in the Central this year, right?

The Trib spends the money. It's what management spends it on that is questionable.
And where has all that spending gotten them? Last place? Hmm, would I wish for an owner that is a baseball fan and treats a team like a baseball team instead of a cash register? Yah I will go ahead and wish for a owner that is committed to winning unlike the Tribune that is committed to keeping everyones cup holders filled with a cup of beer. For your information Ernie has a group together and was trying to get the team.

Being in the media/radio industry I've heard about these rumors for a while and I can say the basis for this is to buy up the Tribune media outlets. While the Cubs organization is included nothing I've read has indicated this is high on their priority list for reasons to buy. That could be good, bad or could mean nothing.

With that said, being a long-time Cubs fan I wouldn't mind seeing new ownership.

Try to read the entire post before making a comment. You might find that you actually agree with me.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. They spend the money. Now if Hendry and McPhail/McDonough, decide to spend the money foolishly, that's the problem. Not the Trib. The Trib supplies the money. Management decides who gets it.
