Hmm a little more then 15mil per year. Zito should def get 17+. Anyway I guess it's a good deal for LA.

Wowww...that's certainly a crush to the Giants. Also the Mariners. I wonder what the ripple effect of this is..

Good deal! I like that they kept it only at 3 years.

Schmidt is younger and will be around longer then Maddux so this was definitely a good deal for the Dodgers.

Somehow me thinks this mean Zito gets 20 mil a year.

Now they need to sign some offense to replace Drew and Lugo.

Rangers are supposed to offer 6years and like 103. Which is basically 17mil. I doubt he gets 20.

I'm glad the Cardinals didn't get him and I'm glad the Cubs didn't go after him. They would have been forced to give him at least $55 Mil to get him to come to the Midwest and that money can be better spent.

This is a pretty good signing for the Dodgers though. Penny, Schmidt and Lowe should be a formidable rotation assuming Penny remains in LA. They will need thier young guys to come through big offensively though.

He is injury prone LA will see it! He lost his fastball too, so that is a lot of money for a guy with those problems. I am glad SF didn't sign him for that much! Now he can go play for the Bums! lol

These contracts arer seriously getting out of hand. Baseball needs to go the way the NHL did: lockout for a year, wipe everything, start over, and move on. Zito does not deserve that much money, and neither do most other baseball players, but that's the way the market is paying. It's a joke.

Lugo was mainly a utility player, but a hitting-OF (Vernon Wells) should be a top priority of ours. We could afford him and we're rid of Drew's contract now.

I think by signing Schmidt, we've opened the door to trade one of our starters along with some prospects for a Manny Ramirez or Vernon Wells.

Sweet, I get to enjoy watching Schmidt tear up the Giants now. Like honestly, what the hell are we doing anyway? We re-sign Durham, Feliz and go out and get Aurilla Molina and Roberts.. it sure as hell they are playing for the short term AGAIN.. yet they let go of the ace and are nowhere close to a deal with Bonds. Good lord.. i thought this year would be different.. a new beginning, but here we are.. just more vets and no identity.

Anyhow, hats off to Jason Schmidt for being one of the better Giants in recent history and staying loyal to us when he could've bolted last time. Although I dislike the Dodgers, I hope he does well.

I heard they are going pretty hard at Zito, Jason never had that bull dog attitude. Just think about when he didnt pitch against Florida sure he was hurt, but do you think Clemens would miss that start! He is a *****! And he will be lucky to stay healthy.
