Re: Uh, oh.
I may be a Cubs fan. But I am not one of those happy, go lucky, wait till next year fans. Every year I have had to watch the Cubs wallow in mediocrity and I can't take it any more. At least this year it seems the management actually has a pulse. I'm just happy to see them being proactive and not reactive.
By the sounds of it, alot of guys here must Nostradamus. Because you all already know what going to happen next year. I would think baseball fans such as yourselves, would know that last year was last year and next year is next year, and never shall the two meet in between.Comment

Re: Uh, oh.
There is no way I can defend the 98 years orf losing. All I can do is focus on the future of the team. You guys say the Cubs handcuffed themselves for the future. I don't really see it that way. The players they signed are young enough to be around a while. Yes, Marquis had his problems in St. Louis but every free agent is a gamble. But he is young and has pretty decent stuff. I will take him over Angel Guzman, Juan Mateo, and the guy the Cubs were trying to get...Gil Meche.
Everyone is saying how bad the Cubs did on getting the pitchers they got, but no one is giving any alternatives. Lets say the Cubs refuse to give Lilly and Marquis the contracts they did and they go into next year with the rotation of Zambrano, Hill, Guzman, Mateo, Marshall (the first person to mention Prior loses a finger. That weak, crybaby is dead to me). Everyone would be saying how can the Cubs go into next year with these young guys. Desperate times call for desperate measures. And after last year desperation set in pretty hard for the Cubs and they did what they had to do.Comment
