Re: Griffey breaks left hand
First off them me say I live in Cincy and am a huge Griffey fan.
With that said, Griffey is paying the price for being lazy his whole life. Many of his team mates have long said that he would pay for never working out and not taking care of his body when he was younger.
As far as his injuries lingering he missed the last 3rd of the season with a stubbed big toe!!! I really would really like to know what what happened to the Reds if the Griffey trade would have never been made.
Right before the trade they where a team on the rise and they should have never made the trade. He eats way too much of their payroll and has missed way too much time do to injury!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
Griffey is always the first one to the park everyday taking BP. I guess that's lazy. You know as well as I do that he didn't missing games because of a "stubbed" toe. Do you watch the games? You sound like one of the guys that booed Jr. when he got hurt, like it was his fault. It also wasn't the last 1/3 of the season.
And yes I watch almost every game on fox sports and I go to about 40 games a year.(Works luxary box)
If you dont think Griffeys huge salary for a part time player isnt killing the Reds you need to take your blinders off!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

If you dont think Griffeys huge salary for a part time player isnt killing the Reds you need to take your blinders off! What's killing the Reds is their inability to improve their team. The Reds are flush with cash just like every other team. Jr.'s salary isn't hurting them at all. I agree that Jr. is not anything close to what he once was, but for someone to say that he is lazy or doesn't work hard is BS, pure and simple. I follow the Reds closer than anything else that I do and time after time, fellow players and management talk about how hard Jr. works.
Until Bob Castellini decides to make good on his word and "win now" and Krivsky learns to maximize his value with the limited chips he has, they are going to be horrible. Jr.'s will be gone after '08, let's see what the Reds do with that money. There was certainly nothing worth the dollars that was acquired in this offseason.
Give me a source that says Jr. is lazy. Go ahead.NFL: Tennessee Titans

AROD said it use to kill him that while the rest of the team worked out Griff would just "chill" in the clubhouse. The same story said that Bonds warned Griffey for years that his unwillingness to work out and eat right would come back to haunt him once he turned 30.
I am not saying he does not work hard now far as BP and what not, I am saying when he was younger he got by on talent alone. Now that he is older he can not!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
Well just the other day on ESPN they mentioned that both AROD (his ex team mate) and Barry Bonds (one of his close personal friends) have been saying for years that when Griffey was younger he took terrible care of his body.

That's kinda good to hear. This would would put those of suspecting steroids rumors to bed, which I just never was able to see it. Just like with Arod. Griffey was the man back in his days. Too bad he kicked the Yankees' butts.Comment

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
I think that Jr.'s style of play has everything to do with why he gets injured. That's why he got hurt more times that not. Even last year, he was going up the wall to make a play. I have no evidence of Jr. not taking care of himself.NFL: Tennessee Titans

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
I've heard things for a while of him not working hard in the offseason. There might be something to that. During the season is a different story. But, jpup, I agree with you that in that his style of play is what gets him injured. I've been a big fan of Junior's for a long time and I remember how excited I was when there were just rumors of him being traded. It's a shame he hasn't had good luck since coming home. I really don't think his salary is what is hurting this team. I like Krivsky a lot better than Dan-O but I'm not sure he's getting max value for players either, like you mention, jpup.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
