Re: Griffey breaks left hand
I remember all the talk back in the day about how he might break Aaron's record eventually. That seems like a long, long time ago now. I really wish we would have had the chance to see how his career played out without all the injuries. He has one of the sweetest (non-steroid-enhanced) swings of his generation.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
I read somewhere that Barry Bonds of all people predicted back in the late-90's that Griffey was going to have injury issues later in his career because he was 1) really lazy in regards to working out, stretching, diet, etc, and 2) he is lactose intolerant and his body, particularly bones, would always have issues with a lack of natural calcium. I guess he was right (and Barry knows a little something about getting his body strong). Too bad. From 1989 - 1999 Junior was one of the best to ever play the game.Comment

I wish they'd reveal what the accident was at home so that I can add it to my list on my All Bizarre Injury Team. Griffey would be the only person with two bizarre and independent injuries on the list.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
This guy was slated to be not only the greatest player of his generation but one of the top 5 players of ALL TIME! I remember back in his Seattle days when he was robbing guys of hits and HRs on the field and cranking the HRs out as if it were nothing. Maybe he should've never left....
and just when you think he was going to have a relatively injury free last few years to his career this happens. The man just can't catcha break.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
Very sad. Junior is one of my all-time favorite players. During his Seattle days, he was the best all-around baseball player I have seen in my lifetime (born in 75). He did it all. It is sad to see him, yet again, suffer an injury. I hope he can make it back and play most of the season. I still root for him even though a generation of kids have no idea how good he was.Formerly Favre4vrComment

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
What are you talking about? What does breaking his hand in December have to do with playing baseball in 2007? I agree that Jr. isn't durable, and also isn't very good anymore, but missing 6 weeks in December/January for a broken hand isn't a big deal.NFL: Tennessee Titans

Re: Griffey breaks left hand
You seem to forget just how much Junior's injuries tend to linger. The name "Ken Griffey Jr." and "speedy recovery" are pretty much polar opposites at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if come August, his hand isn't the reason he shuts things down again.Comment
