i watched maybe 130games this year

and yes he sucks with guys on base but

he sucked at one part of hitting but killed in almost every other stat that matters and like i said before done bring up K's b/c our young guns have bigger problems with K's

Except that they put the ball in play much, much, much more than Burrell.

Pat the Bat struck out looking 63 times, dude. 63 friggin' times. That is ridiculous. It is so frustrating to watch the moron keep doing that year after year after year.

Because hes lazy as ****! I've never seen anyone jog to a ****in ball in the corner...**** his production, someone take him from us. I rather have Wilo Mo Pena in our OF.

1) He was hampered by foot problems last 2 years, which is why he looked horrid on the basepaths and in the OF. BUT he hustles like a mofo out there and hurt.

2) Philly Phans think THEY are paying his contract in full....so they want Albert Pujols production...he was offered a contract and took it, yes he should be a .300 30 Hr .380 OBP guy....he is fufilling the .380

If Pat Burrell was speedy like Rollins, he would have a statue in Philadelphia because he would have 60-70 Sbs. But he is slow...has a good eye as you can tell by his consistent OBP

3) Alex Rodriguez syndrome. Pat hit poorly with RISP last year...so he is not 'protection' for Howard. I say BS, he is fine, he looks like his foot is healed and he will have a better year then last year. yet Philly Phans will boo him w/o mercy from Opening Day to Season end

His approach at the plate is beyond horrible. Any pitcher who throws him anything on the inner half of the plate should be released by his team immediately. When Pat played college ball at Miami, Pat actually used the whole field and sprayed the ball around to the tune of a .350 average, with pop. But over the past few years, Pat has decided to try and pull everything about 100 feet directly over the LF foul pole. Sitting on an inside fastball occasionally when the situation warrants is one thing, but Pat tries to do that on every pitch.

Which is why what Sully said is accurate....throw him breaking pitches to the lower outer half and he'll wave at them every time. If he went with pitches and used the opposite field he'd be a much greater threat, but he refuses to do that.

Actually Pat has stated that Inside Fastballs give him the most trouble, as with a lot of Pull hitters

What he needs to do is go opposite field...and adjust his stance if Pitchers throw him inside

Then Philly Phans will argue that his .300 BA is hollow and he only had an OPS of .750

He may have stated that, but anyone who watches this guy knows to throw low and away...He'll whif or hit weak ground balls all day.

If Burrell bats .300 last year, the Phils make the playoffs....easy.

I do like the guy though. I hope he can finally have season without a major slump.

Burrell has gotten so much leeway from the fans, it's not even funny. Even when he hit for a .209 average, the fans were cheering for him, hoping he would gain confidence. Now this spring, he says he is a different person and has learned to listen about his batting and this and that. We'll see. But before that, he deserved every ounce of criticism that came his way.

Did you buy his jersey and now feel obligated to stick up for him? Everything I said was true...everybody plays hurt, I dont wanna hear this BS about his foot, it hampers him which then hampers the team. Getting caught lookin 63x is ridiculous.

I'm going to assume that was said tongue-in-cheek, but if not....

It would be fine and dandy if he was fast and could make up for his gigantic offensive liabilities in other ways (steals, extra bases, added pressure on defense, etc), but unfortunately for the Phillies that's not that case, he's all but worthless offensively.
