    No...James is way off base here and collecting a check from the Red Sox probably has A LOT to do with his biased opinion

    and Pitchers didn't always stink at the plate...they were like a second C or SS, hitting around the low .200's

    and there have been some nostaglia about pitchers hitting like Bronson Arroyo last year hitting 2 HRs off the same P Glendon Rusch or Wes Ferrell back in the day being the best hitting P

    Plus if they had the DH back in the teens...Babe Ruth would have been a P his whole career

        Thats an interesting thought. I don't think it would be the case though. Maybe he would pitch his turn in the rotation and be his own DH, and on his off days be the DH (or even play RF.) But most likely he would have become a permanent DH or RF. Then again, back then it wasn't too unusual for pitchers to be more than pitchers so maybe it would be so.
