    About time.

I decided a long time ago that I'm going to try to teach my future child to do this if they want to learn.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Bob Brenly up in the Cubs booth said Carlos Zambrano pitches from both sides during batting practice. Apparently Carlos can reach 82mph or so from the left side.

Yeah, Dusty Baker mentioned that a few days ago on Baseball Tonight.

Billy Wagner was born a naturally right-handed thrower. Barring many details, he's now a lefty. Scary that he now can top 100+ from the left side!

I threw considerably harder left-handed in high school than I did right-handed (not saying much), but I had no clue where it was going.

From what I understand, your non-throwing hand should throw a fastball with better velocity than your natural throwing hand.

I don't know the exact reasons why this is so, but that's what I've understood.

The major reason why most, if not all, people don't experience this jump in velocity is because we don't train our off arms to throw a baseball.

                Pat Venditte's final 2007 stats:

                82 IP
                8-2
                4 saves
                1.87 ERA (lead MVC)
                80 strikeouts

Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

Not too bad. Maybe we'll see this kid in the show someday.

The Yankees drafted him in the 45th round of the draft.

                      So far this year, he's pitched 15 IP, 0.55 ERA, 1-0, 2 saves, 21 K's.

I'm pissed because he pitched here in Memphis Tuesday and Wednesday and I missed it. Ugh.

                        It's definitely unique

However in the long run he's not getting anywhere with it besides the minors if he's lucky.

He's been getting hitters out so I don't understand what you mean.

Interesting, I think he'll be a novelty for a while but in the long run would he encounter more then normal shoulder problems? In any event he'd be a success for a couple or so years until everyone gets a good long look at the kid.

I think he'll make it to the Bigs at some point based on the stats and the uniqueness of what he brings to the table.

I'd imagine he'd be converted into a pitcher/outfielder if he can hit and play the field.

If the guy can use his best arm to pitch and then switch to the other for the field I think teams will see a benefit in that. But, he'd have to be truly special from both the plate and mound to even get a look.
