Besides the mystique whats so special about Yankee Stadium? Its kind of ugly.

I don't agree, I love how Yankee Stadium Looks.

Also, as far as the mystique goes its not the same stadium as when Babe and the Mick played there. It was renovated in the seventies and it is different now.

Its the same stadium, just looks different.

For example there is no roof which Mickey Mantle hit.

The facade is there, just in a diferent location

Its things like this that give it mystique. Also, the monuments in Left Center seem kind of out of place. The should have a monument beyond the bleachers in center field. It seems odd that theyre at where they are.

Behind the black seats? Where no one can see them?

As far as the hill in Center Field in Houston, it seems like it would be a matter of time before someone hyperextends a knee running while watching the ball.

     This I agree on

As for Stadiums I hate, any stadium that has astroturf or is a regular dome.

The only thing the stadium has going for it is that the Yankees play there. If it were any other team, it'd be considered medeocre at best.

Big deal, the stadium still has same structure its always had (short porch in right, death valley). Its still the stadium Mantle, Ruth, Yogi, Gerig, and all the other great Yankees played at. Monument Park -- tucked away back behind the wall where it's hard to see.

I'm not saying you need to spend oodles of time in the halls, but that doesn't change the fact that they're ugly. Compare to a place like PNC, which is essentially open everywhere.

It's not a hideously ugly stadium or anything (we're nowhere near any of the domes or Busch), but after hearing so many wonderful things about Yankee Stadium, I was terribly disappointed with the real thing.

I don't know, I've been there 8 times, and loved it every time. Maybe just because I'm a Yankee Fan. Monument Park may be hard to see, but if you get there early enough you can go back there and visit it yourself.

I have to agree with LetsGoPitt on this one. I have been to Yankee Stadium twice and i think that it is pretty overrated. I think that the history and aura of the stadium is awesome, but the actual stadium itself sucks.
