You KNOW you'd be geeked if he decided to head north of the border and team up with Doc.

      Agreed.

In his time in New York, he never had an ERA below 3.5. And that was 4 years ago. He showed signs of slowing down last year, he wasn't lasting nearly as long into games, averaged less than 6 innings per start.

I don't think he'd be anything more than a 6 inning, low-mid 4's era pitcher in the AL. Not worth nearly the money he's going to command.

That said for the Yankees and Red Sox he would probably be worth signing. He'd be one of the 5 best pitchers on both teams, and they can both afford him, so for a one year deal there isn't really a big negative. I don't think he'll be a savior though.

He would still be better than Igawa, Pavano, Rasner, and Karstens.

even if they do get clemens, he won't be ready until june sometime. That's still some time to deal with crap pitching.

If we managed to make it through last year, this year will be a piece of cake by comparison. People are acting like Moose and Pavano are going to miss two months. The rotation will most likely be at full strength a month from now.

is it just a conditioning thing? Seems like tons of hammy problems for the yankees.

That's what Matsui said in his instance. Playing freezing weather and snow probably didn't help either.

The main problem for the Yankees hasn't been their pitching though. Their defense has been god awful this season except for the Minnesota series. All 4 runs they gave up on Saturday were unearned and 2 runs that scored in the 1st inning yesterday were a result of Jeter's error. It doesn't help that the Yankees don't have much range as a team with Jeter, Cano, and Abreu having poor range, but now they can't even field the balls that are hit directly to them.

Not really, he'd muck up the team chemistry and I have a feeling that having both Clemens and Thomas in the locker room wouldn't be good.

Now if AJ continues to stink it up I might have to agree with you.

According to Joe Torre "surgery is a possibility" for Pavano
